UPDATE: THREE HOURS AFTER OUR POST, FLORES PAYS $1,800

(Ed.'s Note: The managers of Toscafino had been after Blas Flores to pay the $1,800 tab for a bash held Friday for Republican Congressional District 34 congressional candidate Mayra Flores. The staff had been after Blas Flores, who made the arrangements, since the bash closed Friday, and had waited until Monday for him to show up and he didn't. Exasperated, they sent Blas texts saying that they usually don't hunt for people to pay them. Since Blas hadn't answered for three days, they texted that they would contact the candidate, all without results. Then our post appeared, and bingo, three hours later, the money was delivered. The original story appears below.)
THE MAYRA FLORES  CAMPAIGN STIFFS TOSCAFINO'S; LEAVES WITHOUT PAYING $1,800 TAB FOR FRIDAY'S CAMPAIGN BASH

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

The managerial and waiting staff at upscale restaurant Toscafino are frantic.

As of Monday night, they could not get a response from Blas Cruz Fores, a relative (?) of Republican Congressional District 34 candidate Mayra Flores who made arrangements to rent the "chic, upscale-casual restaurant serving Italian cuisine and cocktails, with indoor and outdoor seating" so he could pay the $1,800 bill they ran up for the Friday event.

Present at the posh event was José Eduardo Verástegui Córdoba, a Mexican actor, model and singer. He was part of band Kairo and later a solo music career before he started appearing in Mexican telenovelas and eventually feature films like Chasing Papi, Bella, and Little Boy, the latter two produced by his own production company, Metanoia.

(That's Verástegui at right with Myra on his right and flanked on the left by Blas Flores.)

The Toscaino staff, including manager Carlos Cortez, have frantically tried to reach Blas Flores through texts and messages and say they have been unable to get a response.

"They took off Friday without taking care of the bill," said a restaurant staffer. Carlos (Cortez, the manager) even sent him a text to tell him they would contact Mayra about the bill if he didn't answer.

As  of Monday at 9:34 p.m., the staff had not been able to have the Flores campaign pay the tab.

Was this simply an oversight? In the text acquired by El Rrun-Rrun, Cortez told Blas Flores that they were not used to look for diners who owed for their tab.

Usually, the staffer explained, the tab is paid after the event. In this case, the campaign, including Blas Flores, left without paying and has obviously not honored any arrangements he might have made with the management to pay up.

Maybe with people knowing what they did at Toscafino's it will prompt the Flores campaign to break down and pay and not stiff the manager, the staff, and the restaurant.

Will the hard-working men and women on the waiting staff have to bear the burden for the outstanding bill?

And did Verastegui get stiffed, too?

Already, a flow of commenters are pointing out that this is not the first time that Blas has been involved in these type of shenanigans. We'll leave it at that for now.

What happened to keeping your word, being honest and having integrity?

And if the Flores campaign is already running deficits here, what will they do in the U.S. Congress?

What's so strange about this, Montoya? What you don't explore is whether the Mayra campaign had discussed payment prior to the event with restaurant management, as is the case with most political campaigns.

She's totally unqualified, but this is common in that sort of business. Some candidates want to be billed, some don't. Plus, why do you let them walk out without someone covering the bill? CALL THE COPS!

Toscafino's comes across as an amateurish undertaking.

Not that big of a deal here, son.

Es todo, Juan! Eres la voz del pueblo, la mera vaina! Lastima que tuvieron que quemar a Mayra para que pagara.

So after being called out she finally pays. I wonder if she is behind on her property taxes? She probably had to beg the Koch Brothers to pay for her screw up.

Maybe she had to pawn her AR to pay for the tab. If this doesn’t work out Stiletto’s is always looking for girls for their off days.

Stupid Toscafino management should know the ABCs of running a restaurant; when you agree to have an event, you collect a portion IN-ADVANCE.

When was the last time you had an event where the business didn’t require ANY MONEY upfront?

Toscafino dumbasses.

FREELOADING

It's the Republican Modus Operandi.

According to the Center for Public Integrity (CPI), interviews with municipal officials and municipal records and statements show that Trump's campaign has not paid at least 14 bills totaling more than $1.82 million. The unpaid money was used to cover public safety and police costs related to the president's campaign rallies.

The 14 cities are Spokane, Washington; Billings, Montana; Mesa and Tucson, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; El Paso, Texas; Minneapolis and Eau Claire, Minnesota; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Battle Creek, Michigan; Lebanon, Ohio; Erie, Pennsylvania; Burlington, Vermont; and Wildwood, New Jersey.

The only reason the democratic party is strong in the valley is because of ignorance. If you ask a democrat why he/she is a democrat the answer is always the same. Because! They do not have the mentality to understand the issues facing our country. Totally lost! The democratic party is the party of HANDOUTS. That’s how they have managed to keep their voting population in line.
