ASTROS RED HOT AS MLB HEADS INTO TUESDAY ALL-STAR GAME

(Ed.'s Note: Only four games behind the Major League New York Yankees heading for the All-Star break, the Houston Astros beat the Oakland Athletics 5-0 yesterday at home. There to see them were some folks from Brownsville who graciously sent us this behind-home-plate photo of second-baseman Jose Altuve at bat. Fierro!

It was wasn't Altuve's finest batting performance, but he was picked up by catcher Martin Maldonado who belted a grand slam in the second inning. The veteran catcher's grand slam – his third this season –proved to be the decisive play Saturday, as right-hander Justin Verlander (six shutout innings) and the Houston bullpen kept the Oakland bats quiet throughout the night. Maldonado is now up to his ninth home run of the season, putting him within striking distance of the career-high 14 he slugged in 2017 with the Angels.

Verlander struck out 10 in six sharp innings and notched his 12th win, leading all pitchers in the MLB. Verlander was selected to his ninth All-Star Game and will attend next week's festivities in Los Angeles but will not pitch in the game Tuesday after throwing 106 pitches Saturday. Let's go "Stros!"

Today's game against the Athletics starts at 1:10 p.m.)

Cheaters!

Baseball is a sport that should interest and have the attention of those who are participating in that game...and nobody else.

You watch: Astros pitcher Justin Verlander will go into the MLB Hall of Fame as a Detroit Tiger, which is where he had his best years.

Don't get mad. Just stay on subject. It's just frustrating when people can't stay on subject. It's like conversing with a Special Ed person.

The outfielders are all gringos the infielders are hispanics with the exception of one, and the pitchers and bull-pen are a mix. Not like yesteryear it was known as the white team for the longest time until they saw the light and wanted some championship rings....ES LA VERDAD!!!

GO ASTROS, WE DON'T CARE, RACIST, CHEATERS, ETC JUST WIN!!
BEAT THE YANKEES!
