(Ed.'s Note: Cameron County Commissioners Court will decide today whether to enter a rental contract with newly-elected congresswoman Republican Mayra Flores at the county's San Benito annex building. County Judge Eddie Treviño and the four commissioners – all Democrats – will now decide whether to rent to Flores, who has called Democrats "traitors" and texted that President Joe Biden is "a criminal," as a mailer sent to local voters shows. Treviño, by the way, faces a Republican opponent in November as does Pct. 2 commissioner Joey Lopez. Flores, in her first vote as congresswoman, voted against a bipartisan gun safety bill that would have mandated a background check for persons between the age of 18 and 21, the same age of the gunman (18) who killed 17 children and two teachers in Uvalde elementary school.
Many political observers say that Flores' opponent Democratic congressman Vicente Gonzalez will limit her stay in Congress to only five months by beating her in a Democratic-friendly new district. Is it worth it to the county to take a chance if she may not be in Washington past December?
And if the county rents to Flores, will it allow her to post her campaign signs in the county facility or allow her to campaign against Democrats from there?)

There are approximately a dozen school districts in Cameron County and I would venture to guess about twice that number in Hidalgo and Starr & Kennedy. Billions of dollars in funding is implausible.
