(4-2) DALLAS' DAK TO START AGAINST (1-4) DETROIT LIONS

By Coral Smith
NFL

The wait is over for Dallas.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been medically cleared to play, head coach Mike McCarthy announced Wednesday. Prescott was also officially a full participant in practice.

The Cowboys and Lions kick off at noon today.

Prescott suffered a frctured thumb during the Cowboys' Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers, which required surgery and an anticipated four-to-six week recovery timeline, at best. With Wednesday's announcement, Prescott will be able to play in Week 7's game against the Detroit Lions, within the initial predictions.

There have been multiple weeks of speculation over when Prescott's injury would heal enough for him to play, with his ability to grip the football becoming the main aspect of discussion. But heading into this week it was looking more likely that this would finally be the time for Prescott's return, as he'd been doing light workouts with the rehab group for a week.

Also, Prescott all but confirmed it himself on Sunday after the Cowboys' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, saying that he planned on playing against the Lions as long as practice went as scheduled.

Backup Cooper Rush started at quarterback while Prescott healed and had served as a more-than suitable replacement, going 4-1 in five starts. Dallas' only loss with Rush under center was to the undefeated Eagles in Week 6.

But with Prescott now cleared to return to the field, he's set to retake his starting role.

While practicing in his limited capacity, Prescott had been taking snaps and throwing with his non-injured hand in front of media during the early stages of his rehab, only working with his dominant hand away from the audience.

Prescott is set to participate in a mock game and throw 40-50 times, per NFL Network's Jane Slater, as he ramps up his production ahead of the game.

Time for Dak to put up or sit down!

What's he really done, Montoya?

Same for Ezekiel Elliot. Took the money and did nothing.

Soft Cowboys going nowhere. Again. This year.

On my fridge door, I have taped three Dallas Morning News pieces that sum up my thoughts on Greg Abbott. No. 1: a cartoon of the GOP elephant dumping a very large container of AR-15s over a large city, captioned, “Repeat after me: Liberals are responsible for crime in our cities.”

No. 2: “Age to buy AR-15s can’t be raised from 18 to 21, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says.” Abbott says it would be unconstitutional to raise the age for purchase of assault-style rifles.

No. 3: “Security costs for Texas Gov. Abbott’s second term: nearly $1.4M — and counting.”

The next one I am sure will make me sick every time I see it is the one that will be taped up next: “Parents, critics fume as kids given DNA kits,” Thursday news story.

As a grandmother with three kids in Texas schools, I absolutely do not know how any parent will be able to perform this task. I absolutely do not understand how anyone can place an Abbott sign in their yard or vote for him if you have, or ever had, kids in school in this state.

He gets $1.4 million in security for himself but authorizes DNA kits for your kids.

Vote NO on Greg Abbott!

About Our Border -

Our broken immigration system, especially our asylum program, cannot handle the numbers of people who are now showing up at our southern border. But the answer is not to shut our doors — and not just because doing so would worsen the humanitarian crisis.

It is not in our nation’s interest to keep out many of those wanting to come here. Those fleeing here are not doing so because they want to steal Americans’ paychecks, ruin our schools and hospitals, much less threaten our families. They are coming here primarily to work to support their own families, having fled countries whose politics have destroyed their economies.

If we want them not to become a burden on our strained public services, there are ways to prevent that outcome.

Republicans led by Donald Trump, who hires cheap housekeeping help from abroad for Mar-A-Lago, are playing on fear & hate.

The Brownsville Public Utilities Board will hold another special meeting Monday to address matters related to the audit of the failed Tenaska power plant project.

The board is to further discuss the status of CEO John Bruciak, who last week was placed on leave.

No pay, no visiting his office, request an FBI investigation with the local D.A. and to include the hiring of cronys. Open up the availability to do business with other electric company just like everybody else in this COUNTRY. This is insane and unamerican.

Need to go and protest or just show up. Be vocal stop paying high electric rates. Rates here are the highest and this is considered the poorest city in the nation.
UNBELIEVABLE!
