Ok. Someone explain this to me. Why is Cornejo (an administrator) no law enforcement experience, not a Law enforcement officer note even a jailer at a crime scene. This is a major crime scene where there is major evidence around the area like foot prints or so on. He could be standing on a foot print of the suspect. This guy should be in his office filing paperwork for the administration. I hope he gets subpoena for trial as being involved and participation in a Murder Crime scene. This is just to show you that Erick el wanabe cop had no idea what is suppose to be done.

Sheriff's department was never the greatest, especially the jail system. Lots of mistakes made even before this young man presently serving as Sheriff. The jobs of Sheriff Department should all be eliminated and given to the State of Texas or private enterprise.
Running the Sheriff's office and the jails is just too big a project for elected officials.
Remember over a million in fajitas were never given to the hungry inmates. Why didn't investigators look into that? Inmates were given the worst meals.
And just down the street from the jail was a restaurant that served fajita and cheese nachos with lots of fajitas. Must have been only about 300 yards from Hester's Juvenile Center.
Again, why didn't investigators look into that restaurant? It's too late now.
The school districts are right behind The County for poor management. Maybe reorganize them into smaller school districts.

Don't forget the bike trails and downtown renovations. Costly and no real property tax income from bike trails and the many properties that are property tax exempt for their historical significance. Thousands of home owners will bear the burden of property taxes to cover those exemptions and to cover the tax incentives to developments like SpaceX.
Lastly, half of the homes in the downtown area of old Brownsville are owned by slum lords and religious establishments. Neither pay much in property taxes but the slums owners do pay a very small amount of taxes.
Used to be that border towns were insulated from national economy depressions. Not sure if we will survive the upcoming one.
