(Ed.' Note: no sooner had the Carlos Elizondo-Victor Caballero-Frank Ortiz slate declare itself publicly, than the revelation surface that former Brownsville Independent School District board counsel Baltazar Salazar was backing Caballero and Ortiz in an attempt to regain his $325,000 gig back at the district.
Salazar has been very successful in manipulating politics to stuff school district boards here and in other counties for his benefit.
Was it simple naiveté that induced Cabllero and Ortiz to strike a deal to run as a ticket with Elizondo? After all the former Brownsville Fire Department chief is facing prosecution for two felony theft charges. Old sayings just keep coming to mind, like the one that says that to win an election all you have to your opponent indicted.
And is there an unspoken deal between the candidates and Salazar, a quid pro quo, to help him regain this plum when the opportunity next presents itself and they could potentially be in a position to grease the skids?
Idle hands are the devil's playthings, the saying goes. As you can see from the graphic above, someone's been sin tener que hacer and took a poke at Ortiz for that very fact. We understand that Ortiz - as a BIDS administrator - thought of himself at a local version of Lothario and sought the sweet attentions of some female district members.
Vile rumor? Perhaps, but where there's smoke there's usually fire. Maybe ol' Victor is smokin' hot. Who's to know?

Elizondo and Phil Cowen are challenging incumbent Drew Brown for Place 2. Caballero is challenging incumbent Denise Garza for Place 2. And Ortiz is running against Prisci Roca-Tipton for Place 4.

These “Three Stooges” (Larry, Curly, and Moe AKA La Rata Pelon Carlos Elisondo, Caballero, and Frank Ortiz) will soon be wearing white and black stripes. It's a total disgrace that we have a convicted felon running for public office! And, even more shameful is that he is still awaiting a court date for pending criminal charges!!! His actions speak for themself, he proves to all of us that he has no shame or conscience for his wrongdoings. It is uncomprehensive that he was even allowed to seek public office after being arrested and fired as Fire Chief even before he was convicted of stealing a wheelchair from a hospital, stealing money from the Firefighter Union Local 970, and making a false insurance claim for stealing his own lumber from his reconstruction job at his house...all this while he was a Firefighter and then Fire Chief for the city of Brownsville. La Rata’s new puppet puppies, Frank Ortiz and Caballero will now be following in the shadows for the rest of their lives waiting for a bone to suck on. These two Stooges, Frank and Caballero simply replaced La Rata’s old running mates Erasmo Castro and the other Frank. Everyone knows that these “Three Stooges” are in it for self-enrichment (money) and personal gain and are not there to serve the public but rather serve themselves.
I did not vote for Caballero or Ortiz because of their partnership with La Rata Pelona. Who in their right mind would hang out with the piece of shit Elizondo?

He tells them he does not do emails, and he will not answer them or meet with them or answer their phone calls. I have get to see him out in the public promoting our schools except for the expensive commercials on TV where he looks like some is giving him a colonoscopy and says nothing new about promoting BISD. Someone on the board needs to instigate a professional requirement of all board members who should be there doing their duty and not just for publicity or as a rung up the ladder for a higher position. We no longer who to vote for since it all promises and no plans with initiatives that really help.
