Lopez, endorsed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, kowtows to the NRA platform of unbridled access to firearms, and that organization has spent millions to support candidates who parrot their platform. Under that platform, they have come out against raising the age to purchase assault weapons from 18 to 21, enhanced background checks, and the banning of large-capacity magazines for these weapons.
If such gun-safety measures had been in place on May 24, the mass shooting of 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County might have been prevented without infringing on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.

This happened in Uvalde. Could it also happen in her school district? Does she care as long as she remains in the good graces – and good grades – of her NRA mentors?
But you also remember that she was one of several SBCISD board members who attended a vendor-paid banquet at a Brownsville luxury restaurant even though the vendor had an insurance coverage proposal before the board.
Her response? "Well, everybody was doing it."
