MITTE CULTURAL DISTRICT UNVEILS SCULPTURE AT PARK
(Ed.'s Note: The sculpture unveiled Friday in the Buena Vida Arts and Cultural Park is called La Familia. Sponsored by the Roy and Joan Mitte Cultural Center, it depicts the familial bonds between the two predominant cultures along the U.S.-Mexico border – Texan and Mexican – yet leaves one of the figures blank for newcomers to fit in. The tipping of the hat is extended as a sign of greeting acknowledgement. The adults look rustic, but the children's faces show a reflective look as though peering into the future. The artist tried to show a melding of both cultures, and the inclusive nature of that union.)

Why the continuous emphasis on Mexico? What has Mexico ever given us besides drugs and their unwanted population? The Mexican government should provide for their people. Instead of this dumb sculpture, a sculpture of the workingmen and women who support these illegals should have been constructed. Another idiotic idea. Who made money off this deal? Where is the Matamoros structure similar to this located?
How much did it cost the taxpayers, remember that racist foundation, requires every member to have a degree and are the first in line when the grateful city commissioners throws away taxpayers money. HOW MUCH DID IT COST THE TAXPAYERS FOR ALL THIS USELESS IDEAS?????? I WANNA KNOW!
who are the mamones in the middle of the pic? All paid by the poor taxpayers of brownsville tx the poorest town in the USA....
Yes live it up didn't cost the gringos nothing not even a penny MAMONES PIDICHES Y LAMBISCONES...
Two or three days before the spray painters set in.

VIVA MEXICO!!!

Browntown is known for a lack of taste and horrible art.
Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton keeps running.
Will his legal issues ever catch up?
Texas voters will get to render a verdict before the courts do.
(send this bum to jail already!)
May our proud hard working heritage live on. Trigan el tequila y no se fijen como vengo.
This is something good that can teach our youth to be proud of their roots. This is not about Mexico.
Give the money to the poor to fix their homes, instead of these mamones throwing away money to their friends. THAT'S ALL THEY DO JUST LIKE THAT CHARRO DAYS ADVERTISING COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN DOING THE CHARRO DAYS ADS FOR 1OO YEARS AND NO BIDS. GIVE BUSINESS TO A MESKIN AND THE GRINGOS START CRYING "NO BIDS TAKEN"...MAMONES...
This charro cays give a meskin company business, enough is enough. BOLA DE PINCHES MAMONES DO IT!!!!
Brownsville Public Utilities Board customers are seeing dramatic changes in their bills after city commissioners voted and approved of rate reductions for electricity and increases in water for a multi-million dollar resaca project in May.

90% of the taxpayers in this stinkin' city are in poverty BUT THEY PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES. WHAT FOR? SO THE CITY COMMISSIONERS CAN GIVE IT TO THESE RACIST ORGANIZATIONS FULL OF GRINGOS!
puras gorditas must be daughters
With those statues what you are saying is that the people that will use that park or that live in that area are Mexicans?
Really? So what's the difference between those statues and the confederate statues ?
How do you think a white anglo person feels about having those statues there? Oh, yeah, I know, white people would not live in that hood.
By the way, I am a woman, I am of Mexican heritage, born here in Texas and I love my Mexican roots but I DO NOT LIVE IN MEXICO. Try putting a statue of Abraham Lincoln or George Washington at the plaza Juarez in Matamoros and see what happens.
WHO COMES UP with these dumb ideas? Oh, my GOD!
Keep Brownsville stupid, keep electing these bozos. Don't cry Brownsville, pretty soon all business will move out of town and go to Harlingen, McAllen, Weslaco and only taco places will dominate Brownsville. Oh by the way, these taco business are from Matamoros because of the cartel bosses Extorting money from everyone in Matamoros.
The statue was donated
Try nameing a street Cesar Chavez not padre balli. what did padre balli do for this area NOTHING, so why name a street for him? Chavez has done a lot more. Balli lost all their lands to the gringos RATAS, nothing else.
NAME A STREET FOR CESAR CHAVEZ NOT springman, dunn, king and all those murderers, ratas y mamones....
The majority of people living here were born here NOT IN MEXico PINCHES CUCARACHOS, IDIOTAS, MAMONES GRINGOS FROM COCKROACH EUROPE.
Gringos from up north that come here want to see pochos wearing white mesquillas shirts and pants y chanclas. THIS IS NOT MEXICO PINCHES GRINGOS PENDEJOS Y COCOS MAMONES....
STOP FUNDING THESE RACIST ORGANIZATION THAT DON'T HAVE A F**** CLUE ABOUT THE THE CITY THEY SUCK ON.... PIDICHES

made out of cardboard from boxes in the trash cans! keep giving tax funds to this organisation...
Do they think we all look like charros?
Frankly I would of loved to see something representing migrant farm workers
Or war heroes….or astronauts..
We can be more then charros…but whatever
Nothing to see here.
Brownsville needs to stop with its amorous association with Mexico.
I live in Houston and every time I am making a trip to come to the Valley all I hear from family and friends is "oh you're going to Mexico?" Seriously.
Celebrating our Mexican heritage once a year is enough. Get rid of that stigma like they used to say "Tamale Tech" for Texas Southmost College. Brownsville get with the program like McAllen!
Everybody has a point. Yes, we are in the United States but for me this is the music and life of my parents. These are like the Jazz Statutes in New Orleans except that my parents music was Marichi and their life was that of the farmer and vaquero.
Come on it is not like we grew up listening to Beethoven...I grew up around cows, chickens, pigs, goats, and crop fields. I am of Mexican origin born is the USA and hardly ever set a foot in Mexico... Can you imagine a statue of B. B. King or Jerry Lee Lewis down town? Everything has its beauty and place.
LETS PLAY A GAME! GUESS HOW MUCH WEED DOES RJ, HIS MOM, AND SISTER SMOKE A DAY?
