SERPENT EDDIE SHEDS HIS SKIN: HE'S FOR REPUBLICANS

After courting the Democrat vote in South Texas to propel himself to the Texas House of Representatives for four years and then the Texas Senate for 32 more, Eddie Lucio Jr. has finally 
removed his mask to reveal that he is supporting Republicans in this year's November 8 general election.

Lucio appeared this weekend at the Hidalgo County Young Republican meeting to openly support Republican Aaron Peña who switched from Democrat to Republican in 2010 over his Democratic opponent.

Incumbent Democrat Leticia Hinojosa and Peña are running in the general election for Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals Place 3 in November.

Just recently, Lucio appeared at he signing of Memoranda of Understanding between Texas A&M, the Brownsville Independent School District, Point Isabel CISD, and Los Fresnos for workforce training and said he supported Democratic party candidates Morgan LaMantia for the Senate District 27 seat he now holds until December 31, 2022 and his former legislative aide Luis Villarreal running for Texas House of Representatives District 37 over their Republican opponents – Adan Hinojosa and Janie Lopez – respectively.

So how can he speak out of both sides of his mouth? 

For Lucio, and his son Eddie Lucio III, it has been an acquired trait learned over decades to manipulate a gullible electorate. And he does not see any contradiction in his membership in the Democratic Party and his endorsement of Republican candidates like Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Peña. Notice the cardboard cutout of former President Donald Trump to the left of the podium.

But we should have seen this coming. Republicans had targeted the tradition known as the "two-thirds rule" for years and did not get their wish until Lucio caved in to his "friends."

On 2017,  this Mexican Puritan gave Republicans the right to run roughshod in the senate and cast the deciding vote to give them a free hand. Over the cries of Democrats, he cast the deciding vote to allow the GOP-run Texas Senate to break from an almost 70-year tradition intended to encourage compromise among its 31 members.

Instead, it now takes only 19 senators instead of 21 to bring legislation to the floor for debate. Since the House is controlled by Republicans, his vote, in effect, handed control of Texas government to his Republican pals.

The change – passed on a vote of 20-10 – had the practical effect of allowing Republicans to consider a bill without a single vote from one of the chamber's 11 Democrats.

Lucio would have played a great serpent in the Garden of Eden enticing Democrats to lie with the devil himself if it leaves something for his donation basket. And he apparently never learned about the U.S. Constitution's separation of church and state.

He considers himself a devout Catholic and fully supports Texas' anti-abortion laws that make no exception for rape or incest and criminally prosecute women and their supporters if they do not fully comply with their legislature.
