While the Brownsville Independent School District races are non-partisan, as are the port, the college, and City of Brownsville elections, it appears that the Republican bug has also found a home there.
In the photo, Victor Caballero, a candidate for Place 2 on the BISD board, is depicted carrying a campaign sign for U.S. House of Representatives District 37 congresswoman Mayra Mentiras Flores.
Caballero, a retired school principal is running against incumbent Denise Garza for the BISD board. One wold think that as a former elementary school principal he would be an advocate for gun safety legislation that keeps children in schools safe.
This is interesting. After all, Flores is a gun-rights zealot who – even after the Uvalde massacre of 19 elementary school kids and two of their teachers by an assault weapons wielding 18-year-old – voted against a gun safety bill supported by a bipartisan majority in Congress immediately after the tragedy and is against upping the age to possess military assault weapons to 21.

Carrying that sign was just stupid, but not as stupid as what the recount is going to call him. I am not with Spectrum phone. They email the $29.95 deal every day. My cable and internet on the other hand are with Spectrum. They had an outage for just over 8 hours yesterday. When I called I was shocked the message included phone service. I have been with my service for over 20 years. Never once has there been a system outage. These people could not even call Spectrum to find out if it was their home or system wide. Yes it was his support for Mayra Flores, who voted against a gun safety bill, that changed my mind. I was going to vote for him just because he was a principal, but when teacher friends started sending me the pictures/videos of him proudly holding Mayra Flores sign, I changed my mind.

There have been numerous comments on this blog about replacing local politicians because of their corruption. Yet, these same people continue to be voted back into office. Folks lets face it, there has always been weird and strange happenings at the election dept for many decades, so this new one with Mr. Victor Caballero does not surprise me at all, when they had the old schoop voting machines, panchito would take care of them and yes only certain candidates would win and now these new machines well my guess now is that Remi takes care of them. Always have to pay the piper if you want to win, lets just ask Gilberto hinojosa how this political game is played or payed here in Cameron County. Caballero obviously lost, number of votes prove it. Proves that he LOST. what's going to happen is that he will gain some votes just as Garza will as well. Final count will equal that he LOST. but I guess his followers what to prove to him what he really is a LOSER! but this time it will cost him $30-$40K to show him how much of a loser he is. What a laugh!
He can pay me 30 or 40k and I will get a notary public (guess who) to verify that he actually is a looser.
I am disillusioned in seeing Victor Caballero supporting Mayra Flores. Supporting someone like Mayra Flores who is pro-Trump and who supported the big lie, the insurrection on January 6 AND who voted against a gun bill that protects our children is very disappointing to say the least.
