READER PRAISES WORK ETHIC OF FAMILY-OWNED TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND STAFF

(Primos Transmission is a third generation business located in Brownsville, Texas. I had occasion to use their services several weeks ago. I wrote a letter (see attached) to the owner today, a young man with a rare business sense, a drive for excellence with a “Can Do” spirit instilled by previous generations before him.)

Dear Mr. Cantu,
I want to thank you for your help in repairing the transmission on my 2011 Chevy 2500 HD pickup truck so quickly and efficiently.

A former Brownsville resident, I now reside in DeWitt County, about a 4 hour drive north of you. On a
business trip to the Valley my truck’s transmission, after +400,000 miles, suffered a sudden death
experience just as I arrived in Harlingen. Strongly considering shooting it and getting a horse, I yielded to sentimental loyalty to a twelve year relationship with the four wheeled beast and decided “Old Faithful” deserved a second chance to serve his master.

I looked up “Transmission Shops” and made a list to call. At promptly 8:00 am the next morning I started calling. No one answered the first call. No one answered the second call either.

The third call was more productive – “Yes, we can fix your transmission. We are backlogged right now
and it will be two weeks before we can even look at it.” The fourth call was the same. There seemed to
be an transmission epidemic in the Valley.

Then I called Primos Transmission. The call was answered immediately and went something like this –
“Hello, is this Primos Transmission? Good, I have a 2011 Chevy pickup truck that needs transmission
repair, can you help me?”

“Yes, of course, bring it in, we can start working on it today!”...........”Ok, GREAT, but there is one problem, the truck is in Harlingen, can you come and get it?”

“Yes, of course, give me the address. I will pick it up at 10:00 and take it to Brownsville and I’ll call you when I get it there.”

Your work ethic is uncommon. My truck was brought back to life within the week. It now sits at my ranch waiting for another trip to the Valley and looking forward to another 100,000 miles of faithful service.
I recommend Primos Transmission to all my friends in Brownsville and beyond.

Sincerely, Bill Rusteberg.

In Harlingen, Raymond's does good work and knows the fix before working on the transmission. None of the other shops in Harlingen could tell me what the problem was from the symptoms I described. In my case it turned out to be the sunshell sun gear on an S-10 Chevrolet. They offered a stronger part they called, the Monster, to replace it instead of the weak original part. They gave me a set price as well. That was over ten years ago and the vehicle is still running today.

Everyone has an opinion about a business but I had my car transmission check at this business and was told the transmission was bad and needed a new one. I was charged nearly 400 dollars and to buy a new transmission. I took my car to a local mechanic and he check and double check the car and transmission. Two days later, my car was fix and it wasn't the transmission. Sorry, but I made a 400 dollar mistake at this business. I would had made a 4,000 dollars mistake if I followed the opinion of these people of this business. Get a second opinion on anything especially transmissions.

Erasmo you are a clown!! You look like one. You look like those MCs in a freak show at a carnival. Just cause most of your ideas are idiotic , that doesn’t mean you have to look like one. Dress professional, you moron. Same goes for Jessica, you always look like you’re ready for the line-up at the bunny ranch!!! OK, Let’s pretend( Jessica )you’re elected and there’s a regional meeting of mayors : do you actually think these professionals are going to take you seriously dressing like that? I think not !!! Furthermore, if they ask you to share your accomplishments for comparison purposes , what are you going to say, cause you’ve never done shit for your constituents while sitting on the commission. Same goes for Cowen. All you morons have nothing you can call accomplishments while in office. Nothing NADA!! This forum was just a formality and a smoke and mirror show. Because at the end of the day , Brownsville will once again end up with an idiot running the show. Enough said. Thanks
