The appraisals for Brownsville are very inflated this is ridiculous what I also noticed if you're relative to the board of directors for the appraisal district their properties are not valued as high very unfair for the average person that lives in Brownsville or Cameron County I've done my homework I've seen the family members with very low appraisals compared to others nobody wants to help the average person.

Pay your property tax so every elected official can get a 5000 dollar pay raise(200k up to 500k a yearsalary), vacation paid (2 wks), insurance paid for whole families, cell phones unlimited (extras if needed), new auto use for whatever (a new one every year), free maintenance, free gas, includes luggage if traveling, free paid motel/hotel, air fare have to go to harlingen or mcallen for air travel, taxies fare paid, free meals at any time, if attending meetings a clothing allowance is included and most important IF YOU DIE DURING YOUR ELECTED TIME ALL FUNERAL COSTS WILL BE PAID. No questions asked...

THIS IS FACT look it up...

investigating rumors that they can add a second person to this list of illegal perks like either your wife, sancha, querida, sancho if female or whoever. no social security needed.

get mad people and vote everybody out!!!!!!

It's 10am and they have stopped taking clients.
Too many customers and not enough employees.
And the reappraisal is spotty.
Only spits of valued at three or four times the previous year while some properties right across the street are still horribly undervalued.
For instance. See property id34466.
3.5 acres at 48k.
Lots across the street raised to 26k for half lots 40x100.

Appraisal values are unfair, incredibly ridiculous and in some cases out of this world. What is the PLAN behind all this?? Is there a hidden agenda? Quick example: reg size lot with small wood frame home built in the 60s downtown area. ( surrounding homes dilapidated/ abandoned, empty lots) low income neighborhood. Owned by elderly couple in their 80s. Valued 5 yrs ago $18k and in 5 yrs gradually increased to $28k. Now with last yrs and this yrs increase its at $68k ???? How in the world did this happened?? And in a rundown Brownsville area!!! Now this is whats gonna happen— this elderly couple with their meager SS check, increased food, gas, and overall inflation ( not to mention the pandemic effects) how are they going to pay THE PROPERTY TAXES caused by the high appraisals??( And they’re going to keep going up.). These are the next inevitable consequences— their property taxes wont be paid , they will lose their home, they will probably end up homeless or in the nursing home and their beloved home will be sold at the county court house steps to the highest bidder.(to the land barons and elite elected officials) END OF STORY!! Sounds crazy but this will happen. There will be many other horror stories until this ludicrous abuse of property valuations STOPS.

Maaaan, I wonder what the real poor working people are doing right now with their tax bill? Little Eddie Trevino must be getting ready to travel to Europe for a meeting to bring bus Shelters to Cameron County to the ghettos in this county. His mission, one bus Shelter per year? One problem, no bus service, oh well, he will still go because he got the taxpayers money to spend, he might take district one CC commissioner. She needs a vacation for doing nothing for her district.

First it was Pub ripping off people now is the appraisal district ripping off people

This is just a corrupt way for the elite to take a poor mans property if they can't pay their taxes. First comes a lien then the taxing authority can take ownership of your home based on that lien. This has been going on for years and nothing is ever done. A group needs to be created to monitor the way our property is being accessed and how these taxes are being spent. Everyone needs to submit a protest. Don’t remain silent.

OTRO GRUPO DE RATAS they wanted to hide so they opened the offices en sanbene and on purpose they don't pave the road full of potholes like el gran southmost and most of brownsville.
and again the DA is the leader of all the RATA groups.
WHERE THERE IS NO LAW THERE ARE RATAS GALORE FACT...

The city of Brownsville can get a divorced from the CC appraisal district and put the read value of our property. If you believe your 2 bedroom 1 bath house in the Southmost area is worth 400,000 dollars good for you. Pay the the taxes if you want to. But if that home cost 60,000 dollars to build, that's it, 60,000 dollars for ever.

I met a lady that told me that after paying her taxes, she will go to the tax office and give a down payment every month so that when the bill arrived in October she was able to pay her taxes and not lose her property. Then she starts all over again to give downpayments.

Imagine this.

Protesting your appraisal doesn't achieve much.

Something needs to be done to stop this power of abuse.

So my property is valued high and when I try to sell it, nobody offers what the property is valued at. WHAT??? I have an idea, the property tax office should buy our properties at the value they appraise them !!!! LOL.

The Cameron County Tax Office needs to present a plan to help these people.
October, November, December, January, February: are the months to pay.

So people need help March, April, May, June, July, August, September to get ready for the bill that arrives on October. This is something the Cameron County Tax Office can help with. Send a letter to all taxpayers and present them with options to pay the bill. Mexican Americans are good at saving money....paying bills....but they need time to do this.
This will keep people from spending in trips, furniture, clothes, cars, restaurants, Charro Days, Sombrero Festival, Halloween, Valentine's Day etc

Maybe the commissioners and the precinct leaders can help organize this type of payment plan.

All of these record-breaking home appraisal values which really is only a smoke screen so that the a average homeowner pays more taxes. We are subsidizing all those elected officials last and present who have the famous "Historical designation" bullshit on their personal homes and businesses. The elected officials should be ashamed for not paying their taxes while most of their constituents struggle to pay their fair share.

No wonder Pat left. I don't blame him.

I pay my property tax on a monthly basis otherwise I would have lost my home long time ago. This is the poor way of pay your tax. 80% of the citizens here pay this way, there is no way I and many people here can pay out a 1500 to 2500 dollars in one transaction.

Supreme Court rules 9 to 0 that when your property is taken for not paying your taxes that the entity taking your property is only entitled to the amount owed in taxes and no more. This will discourage the thievery that counties engage in by keeping all your property.
