McDonald's is desperate for employees. Nobody wants to work at McDonald's nowadays. The McDonald's next to TSC buses their employees probably from matamoros. There is always a silver Mercedes van in the parking lot with employees getting on and off.
Maybe those 10 year olds can build a better burger than some of the adults they have working. They can't even center a damn slice of cheese on a burger. Half the time when I order half the cheese is sticking out and stuck to the wrapper, or box.
I doubt that it was corporate policy. The franchisee or restaurant manager is likely to blame.

No problem. Making money to help family is a good thing. Job experience is better than playing soccer all day. Of course, with parents consent and child's willingness. Not forced like in China and India.

Though ten seems young the kids are apparently the children of the manager or owner who was there when the children were "working". I don't know what work they were doing but I think it matters that the parent was there. Were they being exploited? Maybe. Were they getting a few hours lesson in work and responsibility or were they there every night, toiling away over a fryer and learning a valuable lesson about the horribleness of fast food? If the parent was a manager they probably weren't there to help the family pay the bills. I haven't been to a McDonalds in years and I'm no fan but I need more info before I judge there people.
