We first heard of Brownsville Police Department officer Reynaldo Rios, Jr., back in October 2020 when he was arrested by the troopers of the Texas Department of Public Service and charged with a hit-and-run instead of a Driving Under the Influence. We didn't follow up on the case, but apprarently, he was able to beat the rap and stay on the force. Now he's back on the radar againRios joined the BPD on January 25, 2018 and got in trouble less than two years later. Now, only four years after he was hired, he is currently listed as an active patrolman (IV) at a salary of $71,868.78.
But this time the police officer is being charged with four serious felony charges: Stalking (3rd Degree), Burglary with Intent to Commit Felony (1st Degree), Continuous Volence Against Family Member (3rd Degree), and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Family Violence (1st Degree). He was arrested and booked Saturday, July 15.
Brownsville police said he had been placed on administrative leave without pay pending an investigation.

This has to be scary, not only to his victim, a former girlfriend, but also to the general public who trust the police to protect and to serve. The thought that a police officer – armed and with a badge and gun enforcing the law – uses the power of the state to coerce and force himself upon a woman has to be scary to every Brownsville resident.
What kind of outfit is out on Jackson Street nowadays? Maybe it was a bad idea to make Chief of Police Felix Sauceda an Assistant City Manager when the police officers under his authority are behaving so badly and need to be looked after and disciplined to prevent such alleged outrages like this.

Felix kept him over a year up in dispatch, protecting him, cause he’s a friend of felix’s son. He made sure that charges were dropped, both internal and with DA’s office, so he could keep him on board. The guy had just been reinstated to patrol and probably would’ve had a detective position soon, but he fuckked ip again and daddy felix couldn’t do anything about it this time. Fucken guy walked around town like he was invincible, because he had the protection of his daddy felix. Meanwhile felix is doing everything in his power to weave out the senior and experienced officers… that’s why so many have left and are still leaving.. no one wants to work for that peace of shit… Montoya, you should do an inquiry on how many officers have left since felix became chief.. it should tell you something about the leadership in the BPD. Not to mention his puppet, kirk massey who turned on all the officers who were once backing him up when he got fired, another peace of shit
So he had him on administrative assignment for over 3 years, getting paid an officer’s salary and working in dispatch. That has to be mismanagement and theft of salary earnings because sauceda allowed it and kept him earning a salary for that long. The moment this asshole got arrested for that hit and run, he should’ve been suspended without pay and then reinstatedwhen and if he beat the rap. Sauceda and this asshole, i guess both assholes stole from the tax payers for over 3 years by allowing him to continue to get paid. Someone else needs to loose their fucken job over this. If all parts of report are true, that so called “ police chief “ knew about this guy and his dangerous behavior and ran cover for him( so did the DAs office). So when is this going to end??? And lets not forget, this piece of work Sauceda has now been REWARDED with an assistant city manager’s position. WHAT A JOKE!!!! The blatant abuse of power/corruption continues in Brownsville Texas. Lets just hope this threat to the community is kept locked up until justice is served. Seriously doubt it though, couple of phone calls here and there and some $$$ and business as usual.

I was assaulted at the Walmart parking lot. After making excuses like the car the woman was driving is registered in Edinburgh, the actual owner of the vehicle lives in Edinburgh and has cancer, She won't give me the assailant's girlfriend's phone #, Spoke to the assailant's girlfriend on the phone, who says she no longer lives with the assailant, the camera at Sam's was blurry and the camera at Walmart only shows the woman running to my car. After I told the detective that I would go to Edinburgh and talk to the official, he tells me the woman lives in Brownsville. The next day he calls and asks me to view a picture lineup. I picked a woman who resembled the assailant and he said that she was not the one. I asked if he had seen her in person and he replied "No" but he had an IDEA of who she was. I called the chief of police who refused to talk to me. A sergeant called and was extremely rude and yelled at me. He said I had picked the wrong person and that was that. Detective Yin will not answer my calls. Assault on an elderly person and all he did was make phone calls. Brownsville PD's finest.
