(Ed.'s Note: Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety say that a unit of the Cameron County Sheriff's Department driven by Lt. Robert Rodriguez struck a 16-year-old pedestrian as he walked along the road in the La Paloma County Park in La Paloma. The minor was said to have been walking along the park road a little after 9 p.m. Wednesday night when Rodriguez tried to negotiate a turn and the youth was in "his blind side" and was struck.
The teen was taken to the hospital and a DPS spokesperson said he had suffered minor non-life threatening injuries. They said that the testing for alcohol or drugs is and administrative matter and that it's the sheriff department's responsibility. Cameron County policy dictates that such testing is required immediately when a county unit is involved in an accident. So far there has been no statement issued by Sheriff Eric Garza.)

I can’t believe deputy Rivers aka the SLOTH is still employed with the sheriff office much less a peace officer I attended the LRGVDC police academy in Harlingen with him boy talk about someone who has no business being in law enforcement he always failed exams acted really stupid hard to get along with I remember Oscar Maldonado who was in charge of the Harlingen academy at the time once said he had no business in law enforcement but this guy failed his 3rd exam and was kicked out of the academy I remember him sitting in the hall way crying like a baby sad I thought that was the end of home who in the right mind would pass home where ever he went crazy

Captain Gomez you're a great guy, don't get me wrong, but this job went over your head. walking around with a tablet telling everyone Yes Yes Yes won't do the job. We have patrol supervisors, like the LTs working morning shift together while we don't have any supervisor at night, come on bruh. Rookie supervisors getting in bed with deputies.
