HEY GUYS, DON'T YOU NEED A CITY PERMIT FOR THAT?

(Ed.'s Note: Passersby were surprised on Monday when the owners of Terras Urban Mexican Kitchen, at 1212 E. Washington St., started erecting an ad hoc canopy over the sidewalk in front of their establishment attached by ropes to the historical building. So were, apparently, the historical district managers and inspectors with the Building Permits and Inspections Division.

Word is that they will reach out to the owners of the restaurant and tell them to remove the rudimentary canopy which is not permitted under city rules and historical requirements. Maybe businesses can do this in Mata, but local businesses in the historical district cannot just erect a lean-to over the city's easements.

But with pals like city manager Helen Ramirez and city commissioner Pedro Cardenas now on their side, they feel like they can do anything with or without the city's approval. Oh, well, live and learn.)

Who is this guy that wants to challenge the City of Brownsville, disrespecting the citizens of Brownsville?

A guy that changes the law to fix his needs.

DO NOT GO TO THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS that has no respect for the City of Brownsville.

If you go. Shame on you. You do not love the City of Brownsville.

They think Mendez is still Mayor and can do whatever they want.

There you go talking shit and shaming small businesses in Brownsville. The hate you hold for this city will kill you before the alcohol kills your liver. Zeke, stopping paying this man’s bar tab.

You are confused. Local businesses in downtown have to follow the rules.
It is not hate, it is love for order and the City.

The downtown business have to promote downtown and give good prices and products for the buyers. Then shoppers will go.

If they need to occupy the sidewalks, they need to communicate with the City. That way all businesses can participate and sell outside their establishments.

Maybe they can even close down the streets of downtown and pedestrians can walk and shop at ease.

Do not insult anybody in this blog...remember, all people think differently but the City has rules that apply to everybody.

Pedro Cardenas has been bought and paid for. Commissioner Pedro Cardenas is trying to bring the Mexican politician mentality to Brownsville, TX. Pay me if you want to do business. A politcian is here to steal from the poor and make as much money in the 4 years as possible. Pedro is all about the money, not about the people. Ben Neece was about getting laid, and Pedro is about getting Rich

This is what happens when you give permits to mojados, here illegally or legally? They think they can do whatever they want just like they did in Mexico. Did they pay a mordida to someone in city hall or a commissioner?

They are stupid because they think they are above others. They have to wipe their asses like everyone else. For all we know they are even degenerates.

Their is a point where as humans we are all equal. To think otherwise is asinine. Lots of people are smart.

the idea of closing elizabeth street from 7 street to the bridge has been mentioned before but nobody will get a kick back on this idea so it is not an important issue.

Y LINDA QUE???? ya se vendio?

imagine walking down Elizabeth st and people walking and shopping, musicians playing, vending carts on the side, benches palm trees and other enjoyments?
Maybe if nobody pays attention, it will be built, just like the bike trails nobody uses them but they still continue to add more and more bike trails all the way to the flea market at a cost to you and me in the millions and millions
y los pot holes, flooding, traffic, the airless port etc etc etc.
