The latest Federal Election Commission filings for candidates show that Republican Mayra Flores, candidate for U.S. 34th Congressional District, is making politics an economic windfall by paying herself a $5,000 monthly salary from campaign contributions.
Flores initially captured the seat in a June 2022 special election, handing the GOP a breakthrough victory as they were aggressively targeting South Texas. But redistricting made the seat more favorable for Democrats, and Democrat Vicente Gonzalez defeated Flores by a comfortable margin in November.
Her finance statements indicate that Flores, a licensed respiratory therapist, has found a gold mine in politics and is giving herself a salary that may well exceed the income from her employment. A copy of the statement is depicted below.
And, most irking for the Republican faithful, it appears that Flores has struck a deal with Deborah
Bell, who is running for Morgan Graham's position as Cameron County Republican chair for her support, a practice frowned upon by Republicans. In the same report, she lists Bell as an employee paying her $500 in "wages."
"If there is one thing that Republicans can't stomach is one of their candidates seeking the party's nomination for a higher position getting involved in a race down the ballot," said a Cameron County Republican activist.
"This indicates that Flores is basically endorsing Bell and paying her for her support. It doesn't fly with us. We believe that those positions down the ballot should be left up to local party members to decide."

After gathering a bit more info i kinda now agree why some voted against resolution to kick that a-hole out. It seems that some of these congressmen are waiting for the outcomes of ethics committee findings and or his criminal court findings to then vote him out( allow his due process) . This was done in order to not create a presedence for future possible expulsions w/o due process. So i guess we shall continue to wait until the time comes to get rid of this lying scumbag.
