The "amenity" above complete with photoluminence stone trail so the well-heeled bikers can rest their sculptured limbs in luxurious comfort comes with a $90,000 price tag.
How about sharing the public wealth with the rest of us Rose? You don't pay city taxes on your historically designated home anyway so it'll be OTM, other people's money, as you have grown used to spend on pet projects for your "classy" friends.
A bench and an overhang ain't too much to ask for is it? It will go along well with the plastic trash can and the bus stop sign.)

Rose Gowen doesn’t give a FUCK!! That entitled loser just cares about herself, her rich friends and advancing her agenda. When has she cared/listened to what her constituents want or need?? NEVER!!!! She needs to be voted out immediately. Enough is enough .
I could be wrong, but the issue is the actual locations of the bus stops. Why build a bus shelter if the location is going to change. Thus, bus stops are ever changing locations.
At one time the former Senator was going to help by selling advertising. That didn't work. If grant writers could get funding that might work. But for the City to fork out an estimated $25 per bus stop would be poor spending.
Vandalism is another consideration. A permanent bus shelter would have to be repainted regularly and even rebuilt to repair damages.
The answer might be mini's. Matamoros has great transportation. They use smaller buses. Matamoros has great cheap service. No free riders.
Maybe solicit outfits like AMIGOS DEL VALLE.
Finally, appoint someone as the transportation Czar with a budget to get bthings done.

I think in Dubai they have air conditioned bus stop shelters.
In Hawaii they have huts or just benches plus there is no school bus for students: they use the City bus.
So Brownsville, being in Texas and having creative people should design sturdy benches and huts with roofs imitating palm trees/ocean/murals.

There's water, lights, garbage pickup, those so call one person assholes stop traffic to cross the street and create a bigger problem in air pollution, There's tree and palm trimming and police protect too. I remember the complaints about the train stopping traffic now people just walking by the pedestrian walk are pushing the crosswalk button and doesn't cross the street! It's funny that people in the city drive miles to used the bike and hike trails and these people don't walk around their neighborhood? The city is looking for grants when the city is ranking in millions of dollars a year on the resaca fees!. The mayor of Brownsville is an idiot and Rose Gowen has to turn in her pee wee bicycle to have the city of Brownsville to buy her a gold bicycle for the Charro days parade!
Juan, it is time to get a camera crew to cover a story possibly entitled "A day Of A Public Commuter In Brownsville" And, in doing so, have the "At Large City Commissioner, the Distric Commissioner and Mayor experience the very same conditions our public commuters are experiencing each and every day while waiting in both hot and sunny days as well as cold and rainy days.
5:55 as a good samaritan thats a good idea, but it is the city’s responsibility to provide services to its constituents ( including you , if needed) . Thats why we pay all those taxes. Taxes that should be utilized for meaningful projects not for pet projects and to be given to the rich( BCIC GRANTS).

Pet projects is all Gowen did during her long term tenure. Thankfully, she's not allowed run for reelection. But the damage she did is done, and will affect us for decades to come. Meanwhile, she will be exempt to pay property taxes for life due to the BS of "Historical Designation " Pathetic is not the word.
Historical exemptions need to go. Everybody should pay their fair share.

NO. STRANGER DANGER. Unless they put cameras to record driver, license plate etc of the driver and if they take the person (female, elderly, minors) to the right place. MORE CAMERAS NEEDED.
Bike patrol is coming soooon. anybody caught walking on the trial bikes will be issued a walking on bike trails violation ticket. Local cops will be close by to investigate immigration papers. If you don't have any in your pocket you will be deported immediately. Brownsville is the only city in texas with hispanic (coco) cops... ALL FACTS
