Special to El Rrun-Rrun
He was denied his professional debut January 27 at the Brownsville Events Center against Houston's Mike Hill who cancelled at the last moment, but during last Saturday's fight night at the Brownsville Sports Park, Browntown's Brando "Kid Cameron" Avila showed his stuff by defeating tough Hector "La Aguilita" Gutierrez, originally from Sinaloa and now fighting out of Mission.
The unanimous decision against Gutierrez indicates the complete dominance the Brownsville boxer had over his more experienced opponent who went the distance against Weslaco's Bandron Figeroa, who has held the WBC interim featherweight title since March 2023 and previously the WBC super bantamweight title in 2021 and the WBA super bantamweight title from 2019 to 2021.
With this win, this Southmost barrio-based Brownsville fighter has stepped into the professional ranks and has made his mark and looks forward to rising in the professional ranks.
Dale gas, Brando!
Arriba Browntown! Arriva La Southmost!
