"IF YOU GIVE THIS MAN A RIDE, YOUR AMBULANCE HE'LL DRIVE..."

Speical To El Rrun-Rrun

Jesús Gilberto Hernández, 31, has been identified by the Brownsville Police Department as the suspect who allegedly stole the ambulance that sped across the international bridge to Matamoros this past Sunday that was recovered by authorities hours later.

The man faces a robbery charge – and possibly federal charges – and according to police he has a lengthy criminal record.  Hernandez is in Mexico and is deemed a dangerous suspect.

Hernández allegedly took the ambulance around 8 a.m. Sunday after complaining to employees at the Whataburger Restaurant at 2021 International Blvd. of abdominal pain and asking to be taken to a hospital. Both EMS personnel and firefighters responded, Brownsville Police explained in a statement.

Then, as the responders treated him at the rear of the vehicle, he unexpectedly jumped into the driver's seat of the ambulance and sped away from the scene. He then drove the ambulance toward the international border, where it crashed into the barriers before crossing into Matamoros, Mexico.

No injuries were reported among emergency personnel or bystanders during the incident. The incident is being investigated by authorities.

The ambulance was recovered several hours afterwards in Matamoros, with its rear tires still intact. However, in a photo when it was returned to Brownsville by Mexican law enforcement, two of its rear rims and tires and rims were missing.
Anyone with information on Hernandez’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (956) 546-TIPS (8477).

This is a tale that will go down in Brownsville history. La Rata Pelona aka Carlos Elizondo has to be around some where in this story. Mexicles largos y sin conciensia. This includes the Cardenas precinct 4 commissioner. At night while asleep they laugh at their wrong doings.

Fire trucks, funeral cars, trucks that belong to truck guys that love trucks, horse trailers, tractors, border patrol units , police cars, city trucks, etc are next in line to be stolen. How is it done? you connect wires and you make the vehicle move, do you make a master key...
