Sources inside the Cameron County Sheriff's Department have confirmed that the Texas Rangers are investigating the firing of a former jailer at the old downtown Brownsville detention center after it was discovered that she had been having sexual relations with an inmate that resulted in her getting pregnant.
So far, no confirmation of the alleged affair between the jailer, her firing, and information on the inmate have been made public by Sheriff Eric Garza.
According to the sources, Yessica Sequeda was a visitation clerk but was asked to double as a correction officer (jailer) when the alleged consensual sexual activity took place that eventually resulted in her pregnancy.Her alleged lover was convicted murderer Hector Hugo Lopez, 26, a Brownsville man convicted of murder with a criminal record going back to December 2015 when he was charged and convicted of three counts of aggravated robbery, and one count each of possession of amphetamines and Xanax with aggravated robbery.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dismissed a charge of tampering with evidence. Lopez was sentenced to 35 years in prison, court records indicate.
The woman was fired about two weeks ago after she admitted to the illegal consensual sexual relationship with the convicted murderer, but was not arrested and charged to try to keep it out of the public's knowledge. Sources say that she had threatened the administration with revealing alleged illegal acts by some administrators there.
Shortly after her firing, Lopez was transferred to the Garza West facility of the Texas Dept. of Corrections in Beeville, Texas. His projected release date is November 2056.

In other words. Once Eric is out the jail will be perfect. All the money the county lost will be regained. All the Federal inmates and millions lost will be put back into the county General Fund. ALL the employees will get a raise. No more complaints from anyone. The county will be bigger and better with new staff and more resources. The county commissioners will not complain because the new sheriff will never ask for more money or raises for his staff. Better yet, the jail will be perfectly fine with no improvements because there is no need for more funds. I get it Juan. It was and is Eric Garza fault. Omar Lucio never asked for more money. He never lost federal inmate money. Of course not.
We need a GOFUND me for these two lovebirds. Why trash them. maybe it's real love. But Brownsville always dives into the gutter. Even without gifts, a supportive community is what the future needs most.
