THANK YOU "PARTNERS" FOR RETURNING OUR TIRE-LESS AMBULANCE

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

The City of Brownsville Fire Rescue ambulance that was hijacked Sunday morning by a suspect/patient who jumped in the driver's seat and drove it across the Gateway Bridge to Matamoros was back in Brownsville Sunday afternoon, albeit sans two heavy-duty rear rims and tires.

The incident caught the Emergency Medical Service crew who responded to the call at the Whataburger at 2021 International Blvd. at about 8 a.m. by surprise and they stood dumfounded as the vehicle sped south toward the bridge and out of sight on International Blvd.

Hours later, social media posts indicated that the truck had been taped by several motorists on the Mexican side of the bridge crashing through barriers and out into the city, emergency lights flashing and siren blasting. One photo (bottom) showed the truck now under police custody. Notice that when it was pictured in the hands of law enforcement, it still had all its tires and – one supposes – all its emergency equipment secure inside.

But when the ambulance – since then in the possession of Mexican law enforcement –  was returned to Brownsville authorities, it was missing two rear rims and tires (middle photo), and no one knows whether other life-saving equipment inside was also missing.

We suppose we should be thankful that the vehicle was returned at all. But thanking our "outstanding...partners" for their "invaluable assistance" is a bit much.

The new law agency here "reCAPTCHA" is patroling all the border and they are fully equipped and trained to do the job as assigned to all of those gringitos del norte. Trey will sent trays of tortilladogs to the border with this agency for the newly arrived citizens.
