Complete humiliation. . . . . . .

OK, I am not being evil. The young football players here are small compared to the ones up north. They are "little Mexicans." What can we expect? We are never getting a state championship in football. Pigs will fly first.

Soccer is another story.

No, the scoreboard does not lie.

Unfortunately, its just RGV football. Not at the level to compete with the big boys. Good effort from the kids but not enough. One point , though , I believe the honeymoon faze is over and the reality has set in. This is what i mean: I believe the problem started with the re-districting that occurred couple years ago. Everyone in the valley all of sudden “thought” that their schools were making history for reaching 2nd 3rd and even 4th round of the playoffs. And I believe that created the false hope of an evolution of RGV football. And I don’t think that is the case. With the redistricting the first 2 playoff games are basically against valley teams or nearby schools. So maybe a sense of complacency set in and many coaches believed advancement was now gonna be easier but as we can tell by this season’s results—-that wasn’t the case. Time to get back to work, adjust-and be creative . Better luck next year.

High school football players in the Rio Grande Valley are known for their passion and resilience, but they face significant barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential. I'm originally from Brownsville, but now teach at a high school in an affluent part of San Antonio and see how the kids benefit from robust support system like access to professional coaching, strength training, nutritionists, and well-funded sports programs—RGV players often lack these resources. Limited financial support, outdated facilities, and a lack of specialized training make it difficult for rgv athletes to maximize their talents.

Despite these challenges, RGV players remain determined, driven by their love for the game and their communitis, but greater investment is needed in local athletic programs and infrastructure. With the right resources, the players of the RGV could compete at the highest level, proving that heart and grit can overcome any obstacle.

Kids from the RGV do not have the ability to compete against schools outside of the valley. Kids from other parts of Texas easily outperform them academically and in every sport. Valley people need special programs and hand outs to survive.

How can anyone infuse politics (cite Nov. 24, 2024 @ 4:27 PM) into Valley High School football? Only an idiot as cited here. These kids bust their butts to get in shape to play the game of football. Of course they aspire to win a state championship. You play to win. I am sure their reality is such that a state championship may very well be beyond their reach due to physical stature but they still "play the game" that teaches them about struggles and accomplishments in life. It is beyond human belief that an idiot (11/24 @ 4:27 PM) would disparage these kids' desire to play this game. You are probably one of these big time losers that has accomplished nothing in your life. All you can do is deride these young men's successes and desires. May you go to hell, sir.

The valley schools need multi-purpose facilities where the kids can work out year-round. All the schools outside the valley have these facilities. You want to be good then invest in your programs!
