WILLIAMSON COUNTY GETS TRO AGAINST CAMERON COUNTY HFC

Special to El Rrun-Rrun
Williamson County and two municipal districts have obtained a Temporary Restraining Order against the Cameron County Housing Finance Corporation which was seeking to obtain property tax exemptions to build affordable housing developments in Round Rock, Texas.

Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said the CCHFC is "stealing from the future of our kids and our citizens" by seeking tax exemptions for two large developments.  He estimated that the loss in tax revenues to the county, its school district, and other municipal districts would total more than $1 million.

"I caution other HFCs from trying to do the same thing in Williamson County because I caution you that you will suffer the same calamity as Cameron County HFC. We will take you to court and hold you accountable."

The court's TRO effectively stops the removal of the two developments from the tax rolls until a formal hearing is held in the case.

Gravelly and other officials said that they would also seek legislation which would prohibit HFCs from operating outside of their county and to seek exemption from taxes there.

Mark Yates director of the CCHFC told a local television station that he was certain the corporation would prevail in court.

When fears about vaccine safety cause a drop in vaccination rates, cases of serious infectious disease start rising. Parents who decline to vaccinate their children sense a growing opprobrium toward their choices. They have a consequent incentive to lie or, perhaps worse, stay away from the emergency room for fear of having their parenting challenged by medical professionals.

Love to see an explanation of why they are financing housing outside of Cameron County.

Tesla’s sales dropped 45% in January 2025, with just 9,945 units sold, pressuring its stock, which is already down 23% this month. Struggles extend globally as demand weakens and price cuts increase.

To boost sales, Tesla slashed Cybertruck prices by up to $6,000, but its ineligibility for EV tax credits and unsold inventory raise concerns about consumer interest.

This is a business from San Benito. Members are: Mark Yates, Gavino Sotelo, Eduardo Campirano, Louie Tijerina, Cyndi Wyche and John D. Guevara (attorney, realtor, retired port director, retired city administrator, teacher) It has nothing to do with Cameron County.... So they want to build homes for low income residents. Do you believe that?

"What would you do with it - stick it up your ass?" Maybe, but what you missed is that I wanted to know more about this. I assumed this was a county agency, apparently in error. If it is indeed a private business I don't much care where they do business.

10:47 It is becoming difficult to engage in productive dialogue on this blog. Too much negative BS and nothing of substance. Your inquiry seemed reasonable. The verbal abuse was unnecessary and infantile. Kudos to you for not stooping to their level. ✌️

No, they just used the name of Cameron County. Interesting, the name has no copyright. I wonder if El rrun rrun has a copyright? I hope so. If not somebody can steal the name and register it as theirs....Juanito protect your El rrun rrun.

its a non-profit formed by a local government. Its not a private business entity.

It can't be a private business, other wise, it would be able to claim tax exemptions.
