The parade in Washington, D.C., is expected to include over 100 vehicles and thousands of soldiers who will be housed in federal buildings. It could also involve 50 helicopters, prompting "extensive coordination" with the Federal Aviation Administration, the spokesperson said.
The event will also feature Abrams tanks, and the military plans to lay down metal plates on the streets of Washington to avoid damaging the pavement with the 120,000-pound armored vehicles, a defense official said.
The event will take place as part of the Army's 250th anniversary celebrations on June 14 – the same day as Mr. Trump's 79th birthday.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement that the cost will be "shared by the Department of the Army and the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission."
"President Trump will commemorate the United States Army's birthday with a military parade that honors all who served since our great nation was founded 250 years ago," Kelly said.
"There is no event grand enough to adequately capture our gratitude for the millions of heroes who laid down their lives defending our freedom, but this parade will be a fitting tribute to the service, sacrifice, and selflessness of all who have worn the uniform."
Reports about a possible military parade began circulation last month. Initial plans obtained by The Associated Press two weeks ago called for more than 6,600 soldiers, seven bands and 150 vehicles, 
including tanks as well as Stryker and Bradley fighting vehicles – though at the time, the Army said the plans had not been finalized.
Mr. Trump confirmed the plans earlier this month: "We're going to have a big, beautiful parade," the president told NBC's "Meet The Press."
The president also said the event isn't tied to his birthday. When asked about the price tag, Mr. Trump said it would be "peanuts compared to the value of doing it."

Are prices really going up because of the tariffs or is it just plain price gouging? Prices on all goods went up during COVID. Long after COVID they remained the same. The excuse today is tariffs.
