(Ed.'s Note: Next time you go out to the Broken Sprocket club and restaurant on 6305 Paredes Line Rd., in Brownsville, you will see the newest addition to their lineup of local artists and heroes. It is a painting of the late Cameron County Pct. 1 Deputy Constable Ruben Garcia, who was killed Sept. 30, 2024 while he was assisting Department of Public Safety with traffic control.
A jury sentenced the driver of the SUV which killed Garcia, Jesse Edward Leatherwood, to 35 years in prison.
Now Garcia is part of the wall mural that includes Jimmy Gonzalez of Mazz and Kris Kristofferson, Freddie Fender, Luis Pulido, Ramon Ayala, and La Reina del Bolero Chelo Silva. .JPG)

Someone was posting something about the constable possiblybeing Chinese or having some Asian blood. But believe it or not we have a lot of chino Latinos. we even have Blaxicans. Remember that not all Latinos are created equal so if he was, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Someone else commented about bloating. That was nasty if it wasn't the case...I get it. You want the depiction to be fair,right?
