GERRYMANDERED DISTRICT 34 MAP FAVORS REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES

(The contested new congressional districts passed by the Republican-led Texas Legislature is on the left. The current District 34 that stopped south of Corpus Christi in its current boundaries is on the right. The new lines dilute the heavily-Hispanic district and includes Corpus Christi and further north, and has traditional Republican and rural white voters.)
Special to El Rrun-Rrun

Congressional redistricting is a method of redrawing the lines of districts in which US Representatives are elected to Congress, and making a map available to the public for comment is essential to the process.

Normally, redistricting occurs every 10 years, after a US Census, to ensure the electoral districts contain roughly the same number of people and to mirror any population changes.

 Texas completed redistricting in 2021.

The outcome of redistricting can affect the party’s ability to aid its candidate in election, by cherry picking the voters within those lines to secure a win. Each U.S. representative plays a role in the amount of federal funding the region might receive for its projects, thus affecting the quality of life for residents inside those lines.

This gerrymandering was never more brazen than when President Donald Trump asked Gov. Greg Abbott to "give me five more" votes in the U.S. House of Representatives by redistricting in mid-decade to keep his slim majority there. One of the targets is South Texas, where proposed districts are stretched from the U.S.-Mexico border north as far as Victoria and almost to San Antonio to dilute the heavily-Hispanic districts 15 and 34.

“Traditionally, redistricting is done after the census, every 10 years,” Juan Hinojosa, a Democratic Texas Senator for Senate District 20 said. “Mid-term redistricting is done for pure political reasons. There’s been a push for regional public hearings in-person around the state, but right now that is not in the plans.”

District 28 – which is currently held by Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar – would now include three additional counties and a portion of Hidalgo County.

Cuellar said believes the change will help him keep his seat.

“They make my district 2 percent more Democratic than my current lines by adding areas I have represented in the past, which are Hidalgo and La Salle County," Cuellar said

It could be a different story for District 34, currently held by Democrat Vicente Gonzalez.

The new map removes Hidalgo County from District 34 and adds in Nueces County.

Gonzales has likely lost plenty of Democratic voters and gained more Republican voters. His district can also become slightly less Hispanic and that is likely going to pose some challenges for him.

Gonzalez's office provided the following statement in full:

“When they can’t win, they cheat. Texas republicans prioritized gerrymandering our state at the expense of providing millions of dollars in flood disaster relief, at the expense of bettering Texans’ lives, and at the expense of Latino voters.

"South Texans know that Republicans are trying to drown their vote and rig the elections in their favor, but it won’t help them here. I’ve been fighting for South Texas since I’ve come to Congress, and I will continue to do so. That’s exactly why South Texans will once again choose me to represent them.”

The Trump administration’s cuts to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funding for state and local health departments had vastly uneven effects depending on the political leanings of a state, according to a KFF Health News analysis.

Democratic-led states and select blue-leaning cities fought back in court and saw money for public health efforts restored — while GOP-led states sustained big losses.

Trump doesn't care about poor Whites.

FACT.

Republican Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz is safe in neighboring District 15. She's dark Mexican but she has now dyed her hair blonde.

Montoya, the People have finally understood. As usual the Democrats always cry "race" when things don't go as they plan. The aging boomer population with their zionist and racist indoctrination, like yourself, are dying out.

Soon South Texas will get rid of the Democratic Compadre System.
All I hope is eventually Montoya, as I become of age like yourself, Texas will get rid of Democrats and Republicans all together and truly embrace Libertarian ideals. Only then We the People will be Truly Free and Happy.

The Solution to our Problems is never The Government. The Government with least authority over her People the Better The Government. Once we realize that then we can get rid the chains that bind us- taxation.

The Safest Society is not The Police State but an educated, self-regulated armed community. Once We realize this We Will Truly Be Safe!

Gerrymandering was invented by Demorats and now they are crying as they are being beaten by their own game. Demorats are in such a world of failure that they cannot even win while they are cheating, LoL! WAAAAA!!!

The Democrats wasted their political capital pushing the weird transgender stuff, and have no cards left. Even the LGBT will be the first to tell you, they don't truly believe a man is a woman. It's a slogan, something you put on a tshirt in 'solidarity' but no one actually believes it.

This is pathetic, actually closer to political malpractice, because Democrats took slogans and tried to enforce a new religion based on them, "your soul has a gender" a new belief system where everyone now had to start using false pronouns and collectively deny what we all saw happening. A George Orwell newspeak being enforced on us by the federal government, where the grass is now blue and the sky is green, and anyone who refused to say 'the grass is blue' lost their job and was branded a bigot.

That's the crazy part, there was no need or desire for this. It was as stupid as the flat-earthers trying to convince us a round planet is a lie. A costly investment in restructuring society around a bizarre religious belief, a distraction from actual working class issues. There is no way for Dems to recover from it at this point.

Of course the GOP is going to redistrict, just as every party in power does. The question is why the Dems continue to promote these quasi-religious falsehoods like Trans Women (biological men) are Women, at the expense of winning elections. They have put themselves in the position of losing so many elections, they no longer can impact these redistricting plans.

There are men who feel that their inside is that of a woman. Just like there are women who feel that their inside is that of a man. It all has to do with the stacking of the brain. If you don't have this problem great. It is about providing options and letting people live happy and fulfilling lives.

As of 2025, around 9.3% of adult Americans identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, according to a Gallup poll. This percentage is on the rise, paralleling the increasing prevalence of mental health challenges within the population. It is important to approach discussions about the LGBTQ+ community with sensitivity, recognizing that mental health issues can affect individuals across all demographics, including prominent figures in leadership.

Libertarians and Republicans share a closely aligned perspective, with only a few distinctions between them. Both groups advocate for individual liberty, minimal government intervention, and personal responsibility in social and economic matters, alongside a preference for limited government. The key difference arises as Republicans tend to prioritize traditional values, support a robust national defense, and generally endorse a more proactive approach to national security. In weighing both I would prefer the Republican party because national defense and national security is very crucial is these trying times.

Stacking of the brain you say? Best to call it what it is MENTAL ILLNESS!

My grandpa had paranoid schizophrenia and believed there were voices talking to him. He would also see things that were not there. He struggled differentiating what was real or not, and the worst thing we could have done was agree that the voice in his head telling him to hurt himself and others was 'his true self' and he should listen to it.

Sure, crossdressing can be silly and fun, an exploration of playacting stereotypes, or showcase make-up artists' great skills in feminizing a mascuilne face. Ru Paul's Drag Race show was good. Ru Paul was also clear that this was 'female impersonation' only. He wouldn't allow men who had cut off their privates to compete, because he didn't want to encourage mutilation or self harm in his viewers. He also made sure to show that at the end of the episode, the makeup and fake sandbag boobs and fake eyebrows came off and they were still men all along. He enjoyed the creativity and performance while putting necessary boundaries in place.

But sensible boundaries got thrown to the wind when politicians started enforcing men in women's sports teams, and putting men in women's prisons, and men with rape charges in women's rape crisis centers if these men claimed to be "female". Absurdities like "breaking the cotton ceiling" seminars to train men how to shame and guilt-trip lesbians into having sex with them, because they were now 'women too' (cotton ceiling meaning the lesbians' panties). It's revolting. The JK Rowling hatred and death threats, now multiple mass shootings. These were frustrated males coached into an impossible belief system, and that there were violent consequences is not surprising at all. This is where our leaders lost the plot.

The sad thing for the trans is that they will never be able to become the oposite sex. It must inevitably lead to frustration and rage at being lied to, then more depression. We tried to help grandpa by reminding him what was real and what wasn't, don't see how anyone justifies encouraging such a hopeless delusion in another human.
