SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON CPA GLORIA CHAVEZ

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

Almost as soon as Border Patrol Chief Patrol Officer for the Rio Grande Sector Gloria I. Chavez was placed on administrative leave by the Department of Homeland Security, a bogus narrative that she had been indicted in Hidalgo County in 2020 for fraudulently receiving unemployment from the Texas Workforce Commission there was sent to various social media.

El Rrun-Rrun, like others, was also the recipient of a graphic that named one "Linda Chavez" on two counts of unemployment benefit fraud. But something seemed suspect about the tip.

A cursory reading of her impressive resume indicated that Sector Chief Chavez – a Porter High School graduate – wasn't even in the Rio Grande Valley at the time. As time went on, we received two more copies of the same graphic from different sources. In short, the bogus narrative was growing legs. And at least one of the anonymous individuals chided us for "covering up" for CPA Chavez by not publishing the allegations.

According to the Homeland Security record, CPA Chavez joined the U.S. Border Patrol in May of 1995, as a member of Class 285. CPA Chavez has successfully served in a variety of senior leadership positions on the northern and southern borders of the United States to include two tours of duty at CBP Headquarters following the creation of DHS.

In 2005, CPA Chavez was assigned to the Office of Strategic Policy, Planning and Analysis and the Special Operations Division-Foreign Operations Branch within the U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters.

In 2007, CPA Chavez returned to the field as an Assistant Chief Patrol Agent in the San Diego Sector. In 2008, CPA Chavez sought and accepted the position of Patrol Agent in Charge of the Chula Vista Station in San Diego Sector.

In 2010, CPA Chavez assumed command of the Spokane Sector in Spokane, Washington along the U.S./Canada border. In 2015, she accepted the position of Deputy Chief for Operations under the Law Enforcement Operations Directorate at U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters in Washington D.C.

In 2016 and 2017, she served as the CBP Commander for the CBP Migration Crisis Team where she monitored and addressed the day-to-day operational requirements and challenges for the CBP enterprise. In recognition of her efforts, she was presented with the 2017 DHS Secretary – Silver Medal Award. In 2018, CPA Chavez once again assumed command in a field post as the Chief Patrol Agent of the El Centro Sector in Imperial, California along the U.S./Mexico border.

In fact, the indictment indicates that the "Gloria Chavez" named in it was living in Hidalgo County during the period from March 2020 to June 2021, and DHS resume shows CPA Chavez was serving in the El Paso Sector from March 2020 through October 2022. Obviously, it wasn't our Gloria Chavez.

To all who sent us a copy of the indictment and accused us of covering up for her when we didn't publish it, it's clear that she's not the same Gloria Chavez named in it.

Long live Gloria Chavez. Blessings to her and her family. Pride of Southmost. Honor for Texas and to the nation. Puros envidiosos los que buscaban hacerle un mal y acabar con ella. Es mucha mujer para estos tiempos. Tratenla bien, MENSOS.

Well... something happened! Why haven't you found that out? You're quick to jump to conclusions with people you don't like, Im surprised you don't have a conclusion here. It was abrupt termination and as I understand, investigators searched her office. You're losing the little credibility you have Juanito.
