TREY GARZA GETS HIS CLIENT 4 YEAR SENTENCE FOR MANSLAUGHTER

Court observers are still talking about the outcome of  a case after a jury handed a four-year sentence to defendant Daniel Vallejo, then 18, of Rio Hondo, on Wednesday after he was found guilty of manslaughter in connection with a 2023 fatal road race.

His attorney, Reynaldo (Trey) Garza III, was able to convince a jury that it was the actions of another man, Reynaldo Mendoza, also from Rio Hondo – who was driving a Ford Mustang - that caused the conditions for the crash that killed 42-year-old Jorge Villanueva on Thanksgiving Day 2023.

Vallejo was facing up to 20 years in prison. The case was held in the 107th District Court before Judge Adolfo E. Cordova Jr.

Vallejo was hospitalized and arrested following the crash that happened on FM 106 east of Nelson Road. He was identified as the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado that was racing Mendoza's Ford Mustang when he crashed into a Saturn Outlook.

Villanueva died at the scene and Vallejo was airlifted to a hospital. Reynaldo Mendoza fled the scene and was arrested the following month along with his father Ernesto.

The police officer went to Reynaldo and Ernesto’s address where the suspect vehicle was located, “lifted on jacks with real wheels removed.” When asked about his son, who he said was in Houston for school.

During the trial, troopers said “Ernesto then made a statement that Reynaldo was not racing...I never mentioned anything to Ernesto about a race,” the officer stated in the affidavit. “Ernesto then claimed that it was him that was racing, and he was the one that removed the slick racing tires off [the Mustang.]”

A warrant was obtained for Reynaldo’s phone, where a Snapchat recording of the fatal race was found, the affidavit said. Reynaldo's trial will begin on Sept. 22, 2025. He faces charges of racing on a highway causing serious injury or death, collision involving death and tampering with physical evidence.

HIs father Ernesto will also go to trial that same day and faces a charge of tampering with physical evidence.

Channel 5 News reported that when they reached out to Cameron County District Attorney Luis Saenz,  he disagreed with the sentence that was delivered by a jury.

“I respectfully disagree with such a low sentence for causing the death of a truly innocent victim. It sends the wrong message to the community,” Saenz said.

Court observers say that Vallejo's attorney (Trey) Garza was able to convince the jury that it was mainly Mendoza's actions had caused the conditions that led to the fatal crash.

"Garza was very effective in showing that his client was not primarily responsible for the crash," a lawyer said.

Garza was unavailable for comment.

"This illustrates the challenges that arise when jurors lack basic literacy skills in the context of making informed decisions."

When you show up for jury duty, both lawyers use tactics to get the jurors that will go in their favor. Select old people, they will be lenient with young criminals. Select old women and they will be cool with handsome criminals. Select men: all criminals are innocent. Do not select the smart, the sharp, the experienced person, they will go with a guilty and maximum verdict. Those jurors are a menace to society.

Daniel Vallejo got 4 years for killing a man. Vallejo passed a car and crashed into the man's car and killed him. God is watching. Drivers know that passing a car on the road is silly. Get up early and avoid traffic. Do not harm other drivers because you are late to work. Daniel Vallejo has the mental capacity of a 10 year old that is why his father is protecting him. Men are mature when they are 80 years old but by then they are not good drivers.

I know of a womanizer that at 60 still though he was 17. Most men do not mature.

I’ll tell you something about Trey. When my baby’s mother took me to court, I was worried, angry, and lost. By pure chance, my wife dialed the wrong number and it was Trey Garza. He said, ven para acá, come to my office.

We did a consultation. I was very upset, but he calmed me down and explained everything step by step. He told me exactly how the case would play out, and he was right, every detail.

That showed me este abogado sabe lo que hace. Skilled, generous, and effective. I’ll always respect him for that.

How sad, that the victim's family get no justice at all? This sure doesn't speak well of the district attorney's office? I guess you can blame some of the ignorance on the juror's? But, you can put a lot of this on the assistant district attorney who presented the case? Did you notice that democrat follower, montoya didn't post his or her' name? Why not montoya?

Brother, that was a setup! But he's out now and kept his promise that he would not snitch out the others. So he lives quietly in the community with his mouth shut, end of story!

It is not the lawyer. It is the law. There is no punishment for criminals. Regular people think that the guilty will be punished. They think the criminal will be arrested and put in prison. No. It is not like that. The law favors the criminals. It was a crime of passion, it was not planned, there was no criminal intent, the witness is not sure what happened etc

Pan Duro; my baby's mother ? my wife dialed the wrong number? Sir, Pan Duro you are a saint. You deserve freedom and money. Two women and a baby and Pan Duro. Case closed.

It is the law. Only in movies do the guilty get punished.
