ONE THING I WILL NOT DO IS APOLOGIZE TO PASTOR BURKES. I AM NOT APOLOGIZING TO HIM BECAUSE WHAT HE DID IN THE LAST MEETING WAS HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE AND SHOULD BE BANNED.
ALL MY LIFE I HAVE HAD PEOPLE TELL ME THAT WHAT I SAY AND DO IS HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE. SOUND FAMILIAR TO SOME OF YOU?

The City of Brownsville needs to open an application process for all religious people that want to help. Train these invocation volunteers of what can and can not be said. From this list, future leaders of the City will be born.

I thought I’d never say this but I’m Speece on this one. She makes a great point in what she said. Burkes feels he runs this position and he needs to be ousted. His job was to bless the meeting and bring positivity not to bring his opinion. The city should look into a rotation.
Just to be fair. No praying for anybody in the City Commissioners Meeting. I think they pray for cool heads to prevail and for people to act with decorum in the meeting. Or something like that. Sometimes, minors are in attendance. Adults have to behave and not poison the innocence of children.

So maybe it would be a good idea to tell that to Charlie Kirk who said some very racist things about everybody. He doesn't deserve love and tolerance anymore than any other bigot does. Pastor Burkes is siding with a bigot. That has nothing to do with love or tolerance. That behavior definitely has no place in our community. If anyone needs to show any form of empathy understanding and kindness and creating a supportive environment, it is them and by asking for a moment of silence that is basically slapping the residents of the city of Brownsville in the face. If anyone needs love and tolerance it's the people who don't think residents in the city of Brownsville deserve it.
And according to Charlie Kirk empathy is a wasted emotion. So the fact that the citizens of Brownsville don't have to show him that is perfectly fine by the dead man.

Half of those people in this city are women. We have about 10 to 15% of people who are LGBT. We also have a significant Muslim and Jewish population. Someone was posting about freedom of speech. Yes you do have freedom of speech. No one is denying that. However that freedom of speech can be countered. During the last post, one or two people from the city said they've been trying to get rid of them for a while. It would be nice if more people would come forward and speak out against him so that more people could have the opportunity to do the invocation and not just allow him to have Monopoly over it. The other thing that a lot of people don't realize is how much of a hypocrite has your Burkes is. A lot of people don't realize that he's gone on podcasts to say wonderful flowery things about Roy de los Santos. However he condemns homosexuality much like the way Charlie Kirk did. So how can he respect someone like Roy yet at the same time condemn his actions because of who he loves? I think the only reason this pastor was nice to Roy was because Roy was on the commission. I bet if we asked him now what he thought of Roy he wouldn't have anything nice to say about him. That kind of hypocrisy is not acceptable especially when you are representing the city.
