A federal court in El Paso just delivered a major blow to Greg Abbott’s corrupt redistricting scheme, ruling that his gerrymander was unconstitutional, designed to suppress voters and rig the 2026 midterms for his billionaire donors.
This proves exactly what Texans have known from the start: Abbott tried to cheat voters because he’s afraid of being held accountable.
But here’s the real headline and what it means for our campaign for governor of Texas:
Texans in every corner of the state are fed up with Abbott’s corruption and political games.

This summer, when Abbott tried to force these corrupt maps through, House Democrats — including me — broke quorum to stop him. We risked arrest and removal from office because the stakes were that high. We fought for Texans then, and we’re fighting now.
Texans are exhausted by the chaos and corruption that follow Abbott everywhere he goes. Instead of tackling costs, fully funding neighborhood schools, or addressing flood relief, he pulls hijinks like this: taking direction from Washington and trying to ram through an illegal power grab. And when he got caught, he immediately vowed to take the fight to D.C.
That tells you everything: Greg Abbott will do anything to protect his billionaire donors — and nothing to help hardworking Texans.
But this ruling cracks open the path to beating him.
This is the moment to go on offense.
If we scale fast, we can meet the moment the court just handed us. If we wait, Abbott and his billionaire backers will bury the truth in appeals and dark money.
