A new analysis from KFF shows how important the health care tax credit is for working families, especially in the so-called red states won by President Trump in 2024.
Enrollees in these 31 red states accounted for a remarkable 80% of all benefits from the tax credit. Nearly 19 million of the 24 million enrollees live in Trump 2024 (red) states.
It is no coincidence that surveys have shown Trump voters want Congress to extend the health care tax credit.
The political stakes are high. The human cost for small business owners and employees, farmers and ranchers, and rural Americans is even higher – premiums are set to more than double if lawmakers fail to act.
