SAVERGV.ORG UPDATE ON ANTI-LNG STRUGGLE AT PORT OF BROWNSVILLE

By SAVERGV.org

Hi folks who love the Rio Grande Valley,
No rest for the weary…more to come..

*We are going to have our day in court! On January 13, 2026 the Supreme Court of Texas will hear oral arguments for our Open Beaches Case, which we filed back in October 2021 to keep Boca Chica beach open to the public.

It will be held in Austin, TX at the Supreme Court Building, located at 201 E 14th St. Austin, TX 78701 at 9 am. Please try and make it to Austin to show the court that we care about our public beach access to Boca Chica. Can you help with litigation fees, for this project and others? If you can, also please DONATE to help.

* Take the Hazard Mitigation Survey Cameron County is conducting a Public Survey on their Hazard Mitigation Plan. Here is your chance to voice your concerns over the hazards-in-the-making as RG LNG, the Rio Bravo Pipeline (that also passes through Kleberg, Kenedy, and Willacy counties) and SpaceX developments continue to move along at a rapid pace.

Like any survey, there are boxes to check, but you are also able to specify other concerns. Be sure to express to County officials the hazards of having all of these facilities so close to each other and to people. Here is the link to the survey:

Yet Another SpaceX “Anomaly”Speaking of hazards...at about 4 am on November 21st, SpaceX Starship booster 18 failed during testing at the Massey site. It was an early stage test and was therefore not as violent as the one last June 18th. Check it out yourself by clicking on the live video link in the Reuters article:

Read about the massive explosion back on June 18th HERE.

Rio Grande LNG/Next DecadeRG LNG is moving toward increasing the number of trains at their site at the ship channel. Along with increasing the amount of LNG that will move through the facility, will be an increase in tanker ship traffic. This would greatly alter the flow of current shipping to and from the Port. Closures due to increased launches and landings at SpaceX will also affect user access. Maybe it is time to ask our Port of Brownsville commissioners how all of these restrictions will impact the shrimpers, tourism, and other current Port of Brownsville clients. The gas situation is a lost cause. Maybe we can save Boca Chica Beach. Is there a bus that will be taking people? If so how do we sign up?
