SCOTUS: GERRYMANDERING IS OK IN TEXAS, BUT CONSTITUTIONALLY SUSPECT IN CALIFAS

BREAKING: Justice Kagan tears into Justice Alito and the rest of the Trumper Supreme Court gang in scathing dissent against their decision to let Texas go ahead with Trump’s election-rigging scheme!

A lower court had stopped Texas from implementing their new gerrymandered maps because they were certain the maps would be found to have violated the Constitution — but that didn’t matter to Alito and the rest of the enormously corrupt GOP Supreme Court justices, who proudly operate as a rubber stamp for anything and everything Donald Trump wants to do.

Liberal Justice Elena Kagan tore into the conservative majority in a scathing dissent, arguing that the court was ignoring the lower court’s decision on purely partisan grounds.

“We are a higher court than the District Court, but we are not a better one when it comes to making such a fact-based decision,” wrote Justice Kagan.
“That is why we are supposed to use a clear-error standard of review—why we are supposed to uphold the District Court’s decision that race-based line-drawing occurred (even if we would have ruled differently) so long as it is plausible,“ she continues.

“Without so much as a word about that standard, this Court today announces that Texas may run next year’s elections with a map the District Court found to have violated all our oft-repeated strictures about the use of race in districting."

She writes “Today’s order disrespects the work of a District Court that did everything one could ask to carry out its charge—that put aside every consideration except getting the issue before it right.”

“And today’s order disserves the millions of Texans whom the District Court found were assigned to their new districts based on their race. Because this Court’s precedents and our Constitution demand better, I respectfully dissent.”

Alito and company have no problem with depriving millions of Americans of their political voice as long as it serves their extremist right-wing Christo-white supremacist political agenda with no regard to precedent or the letter of the law.

The Constitution, like everything else, simply exists for them when it is convenient and is easily ignored when it is not. Every one of Trump’s sycophants on the Supreme Court must be impeached at the first opportunity and replaced with people who will actually uphold their oath to the Constitution.
