"I do believe I'll be...having the honor of taking Cuba. That's a big honor. Taking Cuba in some form," Trump told reporters as the island faces an unprecedented economic crisis, exacerbated by an oil blockade the U.S. imposed after capturing former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
"I mean, whether I free it, take it. Think I can do anything I want with it. You want to know the truth," Trump told reporters at a signing event in the Oval Office.
After Trump spoke, the New York Times reported that removing Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel from office is a key U.S. objective in the bilateral talks. Citing four people familiar with the talks, the Times said the Americans have signaled to Cuban negotiators that Diaz-Canel must go but are leaving the next steps up to the Cubans.

The U.S. is not starving the Cuban population. The Cuban population is starving themselves. The island has always depended on support from other countries like Russia, Venezuela and Mexico. Cuba has nothing to offer the world. Communism at its finest. Taking over Cuba is the dumbest idea our president has had to date. We would be inheriting a 9.7 million population who have no means to support themselves.
If they're blocking trade just because of ideological differences, then yes, the US is starving that country. Hawaii survives on tourism. Many places are built around that industry from Las Vegas to SPI. The USA imposes sanctions on them.
The dictator-in-chief has no clue about getting out of the Middle East. Now, he’s contemplating more absurd ideas. What has happened to our system of checks and balances?
Trump has exposed the US military’s inability to protect their allies in the Middle East.
Prepare to be exiled from that region. Two military powerhouses unable to end a war that they stupidly initiated.
The rest of the world is witnessing our helplessness.
This may have a silver lining. We need to end the military and economic aggression.
China and Russia are salivating.
Next item in Trump's agenda. Remove the current president of AMFELS and the guys there will decide who is the next president. Replace the Mayor of Brownsville when his term expires but the people of Brownsville will decide who takes his place. Relocate the snakes from Gladys Porter Zoo and take them to the White House where the staff will take care of the snakes. That should keep Trump busy. Poor snakes. Hey, leave the snakes alone.
