How many slaves did the house own? Are we preserving the houses because they are an example of early area architecture or because of who owned them? If there are better examples of early homes out there, point them out and perhaps they can be reclaimed instead. Or, I guess we can cherry-pick the history we wish to preserve and ignore the rest. When I see shit like this for some reason I am reminded to the old apartment building where those three Rubio babies were murdered. It was a pretty cool old building but the city tore it down as it was a reminder of the sad event that occurred there. Then they build a memorial on the site. The word memorial derives from the word memory and a memorial is a reminder of the event so we do not forget it. Mixed signals anyone.
