Special to El Rrun-Rrun
Yup. Their public statemenst asserts that Brownsville welcomes more than 10 million visitors each year while approximately 1,000 new hotel rooms are being added.
If Brownsville received 10,000,000 visitors per year, that averages approximately:
• 27,400 visitors per day
• 191,800 visitors per week
• 833,000 visitors per month
Assuming 1,000 additional hotel rooms:
• 70 percent average occupancy
• 2 guests per occupied room
Those rooms could accommodate about 1,400 overnight guests per night, or approximately 511,000 overnight guests per year.
That is a small fraction of 10 million annual visitors.
Questions Raised
If the 10 million figure is accurate, residents may reasonably ask:
• How was the 10 million visitor figure calculated?
• How many are overnight visitors?
• How many are day visitors?
• How many are simply passing through the city?
• How many stay in hotels outside Brownsville?
• What independent methodology was used to produce the estimate?
Without those details, it is difficult to understand what the 10 million figure represents.
Economic Illustration
If 10 million visitors each spent:
• $100 each = $1.0 billion in spending
• $250 each = $2.5 billion in spending
• $500 each = $5.0 billion in spending
Those figures illustrate why understanding the underlying methodology is important when evaluating visitor estimates.
Conclusion
It's BS. Anyway, the purpose of this analysis is to request greater transparency regarding the reported visitor estimate. A breakdown of overnight visitors, day visitors, pass-through travelers, and the methodology used to calculate the figure would help the public better understand the claim.

I agree. A city's population increases by day and at night decreases to the residential baseline population, same goes for any metropolitan city or port. Fucking rat race!
You don’t understand Juan. Tino (fruity) Villarreal said at commissioners court not to believe bloggers and podcasters. He asked the residents of Brownsville to not fall for the lies they put out. He falls under one of these designations. He is lying Juan! No seas bruto! Tino is smart. Es cuerda el guey….. has caso juan!
It has taken you fools 17 years to recognize that Rose Gowen is quite eccentric. How amusing! This woman is under the impression that planting palm trees throughout our city enhances its beauty. Is that so? The palm trees in our vicinity offer minimal shade, do not yield any fruit, and require constant upkeep. For someone who is an overrated midwife, Dr. Gowen does not exhibit much intelligence. The same can be said for those who have been supporting her with their votes. This woman exemplifies the necessity for term limits on all politicians.
Talk about bullshit where are all these people i use these traits 3 or 4 times weekly and believe me I have yet see any clown mayor ot commissioner using these trails truth
The above is all bullshit. I made it all up.
Overrated midwife, jealous much aren’t you. Rose Gowen saved my child’s life at birth. Aside from that she’s the most impactful commissioner we have had in years.
You can’t make an article like this about Rose Gowen all whilst having an idiot like Michael “Mike” Rodriguez on BCIC! He legitimately has no idea what he is doing and is obviously a quid pro quo addition to BCIC by none other than Pedro Cardenas, go figure! Pedro was going to lose his race until he cut that deal with him to bring over his support to his campaign. End result, we have a complete idiot making decisions with sales tax money. Ask any one of their opinion of Mike Rodriguez, Pedro’s appointee, their facial gesture will give it away.
Michael and Joan think Pedro and Steve are going to help them get elected, jajaja
Will they continue to be in their circle after they get arrested in the rico case that is coming soon? Don’t act surprised Mike y Joann
Nathan, stop being a chismoso. That will be your downfall. You better hope that commission and mayor and others never find out what you say about them. You LOVE political gossip and you're quick to backstab others to get you ahead. We know you too well.
Nathan is Tino's, Gus', and the Mayor's little bitch and he knows it. Nathan has more power than Alan Guard.
Airplanes fly over the City of Brownsville with many tourists. Illegal aliens are tourists. The Mexican residents that shop, work and visit also go into the equation. The prisoners that move from county to county also count. The sailors that arrive daily at the Port of Brownsville also add up to millions. The students that go from Brownsville to the UTRGV campus etc
I forgot to say, it's a pet project.
Ah pero del panochon de zeke y tus Otros camaradas que andan de ratas no dices nada. Mammon.
Wrong! Nathan is a good man. You say that from a distance but you don’t know him. He’s a great person and a great family man. He wants what’s best for this city. Arturo Trevi on the other hand …. That’s where all this anger is coming from, a sour puss, angry at the world. Don’t ever support Arturo Trevino and any of his associates! Ever! That includes Steve, Pedro, Gus, Sarkis, and their BS lunch club!
Juan has camaradas?
Algo muy claro. Steve Guerra y Pedro Cardenas tracionaron a Mike politicamente. Joan es un esclavo para ese par de delinquentes. Cesar y el indio de bcic son dos pendejos.
Someone knows Nathan well! Nathan is a snake. He knows how to slither his way into trouble. Ask if his staff likes him. Ask if BCIC likes him. Ask if GBIC likes him. Ask city staff if they like and trust him.
