THE PORT BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS THAT WORKS NOW..3 MONTHS AFTER THE ELECTION AND STEVE GUERRA COULDN'T DO THIS IN 8 YEARS?

Port of Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — The Brownsville Navigation District (BND) Board of Commissioners at a regular meeting held Wednesday, Aug. 19, unanimously approved the adoption of a resolution establishing the maximum local-option residence homestead exemption allowed under Texas law for persons age 65 or older and for disabled persons.

"The Brownsville Navigation District Board of Commissioners is proud to provide meaningful tax relief to residents in our communities," said Brownsville Navigation District Chairman Sergio Tito Lopez. "I commend my fellow commissioners as we remain united in our commitment to bring good paying jobs to the region while creating opportunities that enhance quality of life."

Under the resolution, pursuant to Section 11.13 of the Texas Property Tax Code, qualifying homeowners within the district will now receive an exemption equal to 100 percent of the appraised value of their residence homestead — the highest exemption permitted under state law.

The exemption applies to residence homesteads owned by individuals 65 years of age or older or by persons with qualifying disabilities and will be administered by the Cameron County Appraisal District in accordance with the Texas Property Tax Code. Qualifying property owners must file the required annual exemption application to receive the benefit.

Communities within the Brownsville Navigation District include Brownsville, Rancho Viejo, Los Fresnos, Indian Lake, and Starbase.

The exemption takes effect immediately upon adoption and will apply beginning with the 2027 tax year.

Residents with questions about eligibility or the application process may contact the Cameron County Appraisal District.

The savings is less than chump change. You are being played. The savings is less than $100 dollars on a $300,000 home.

It's lucky Americans don't give a shit what the rest of the world thinks of a nation that would elect that man and the state systems that enable him; otherwise they wouldn't be able to sleep at night. There's usually a disaster if you surround yourself with evil for your own benefit.

It's coming. . .

Imagine a world where we traded freely with Iran and other Arab countries, and sanctioned Israel. No wars, peace in the middle east, super cheap gas, and no muslim "refuges" in the west. It is all ass-backwards because of one parasitic country.

How do we know Iran does NOT have a nuclear weapon?

It does. That's why Trump bailed with his tail between his legs.

Is the sky falling again?

Why? Are we getting hit with an earthquake, a hurricane or tornado?

We now require a courageous city commissioner or commissioners to thoroughly examine and analyze the city budget in order to minimize waste within our municipal government. There are an excessive number of city employees receiving substantial salaries while dedicating considerable time to unproductive and wasteful projects that cater to a select few. We need reduced government involvement and decreased waste. Oh, how ironic—that aligns with the Republican party!
