An exercise in redundancy?: The Brownsville City Commission is hosting a Data Centers Workshop on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall to discuss local infrastructure impacts, resource consumption, and potential land-use regulations.

The PUCT and have been tasked with doing a comprehensive “verification and audit” of any data centers in the state that are working through ERCOT’s grid interconnection process.
According to the state, no data center projects are allowed to move forward with construction until this audit is completed. The governor’s office noted that any data center project that fails to comply with the PUCT and ERCOT will not be allowed to connect to the state’s power grid.
In total, ERCOT is reportedly considering over 474 gigawatts worth of requests from facilities looking to connect to the state power grid and around 90 percent of those requests are from proposed data centers.
To put that into perspective, the Department of Interior lists 1 gigawatt of power as enough to power between 225,000 to 300,000 average homes for a year. By those numbers, the amount of requests ERCOT is currently reviewing could power between 106,650,000 and 142,200,000 average homes for a year.
PUCT and ERCOT will collect the following information from each data center project that they audit:
* “Information detailing the extent to which data centers are paying their own way or depending on the state for financial assistance. That would include all state and local tax incentives, grants, abatements, or other public financial assistance received or expected to be received.”
* “The extent to which data centers are providing their own power or depending on the ERCOT grid for that power. Details should include projected annual and peak electricity consumption; and any effort and progress to construct or procure on-site electric generation including generation type, or other measures to reduce demand on the ERCOT grid.”
* “Information detailing the ownership and controlling interests in the project.”

As recently as last week, Gov. Greg Abbott faced calls from his governor’s race opponent, Texas State Rep. Gina Hinojosa, to put a moratorium on all data center construction in the state.
The nonprofit group Save Cedar Creek Lake said Abbott’s audit and the pause on construction falls short of being a “real” moratorium in their view.
“We are not asking the Governor to cancel the audit. We are asking him to widen it into a real moratorium before the scope hardens,” the group said in a press release Monday. “If a data center cannot get a power connection during your audit, it should not be able to get a water contract, an air permit, or a tax abatement either. Pause all of it, publish what you find, and tell us when the pause ends.”

The details should include projected annual and peak water consumption and anticipated sources of water supply. You must also obtain information about the cooling technology that will be utilized, including whether the facility will employ air-cooled, closed-loop, or another water-efficient cooling system.”
* “The extent to which data centers are using measures to reduce impacts on neighboring property owners and communities, including noise mitigation, light controls, setbacks, traffic improvements, emergency response coordination, and other community protection measures, understanding that each community is unique.”

Gas went up, groceries went up, health insurance went up, mortgage rates went up, even car insurance went up and no payrate increase if this is what they call winning i dont want to see losing
The GOP is now telling Americans that it's 'patriotic' to pay more for all shit.
Trump must go. He fucked up the Iran war.
Iran, rhymes with Juan.
Iran, just keep calling trump and tell him you got a deal.
Ha ha
Moron.
An IRGC commander says Iran is fully prepared to respond to any threat after President Donald Trump renewed pressure on Tehran over nuclear talks, the Strait of Hormuz, and regional security.

"Iran, this is your 71st last warning, I'm only giving you 63 more!!" - Donald J Trump
For American politicians it’s Israel interest before Americans.
It’s insane what’s going on
$1.5 trillion and we ran out of ammunition against Iran in 4 weeks?!!
I doubt it. I would never vote her and I oppose data centers because they use water that we don't have.
Gina needs to go hard on Abbott. Call him corrupt and a pussy. Bigot, racist. And all that shit.
Gina must pay well. Months before Gina was anti-data centers, Abbott was already on board with the moratorium.
Trump & MAGA Republicans Are Turning America Into A Third World HellHole!
Who Is In Control Of The House
Who Is In Control Of The Senate
Who Is In Control Of The White House
Who Is In Control Of The Cabinet
Who Is In Control Of All The Government Agencies
The Fuckin Trump/MAGA Republicans! How can it be the Democrats Fault When Trump/MAGA Republicans Are In Control???
Assholes!!!
Has anyone managed to keep count of how many "last chances" Trump has now given? it's certainly more than you can count on your fingers and toes.
Frontrunner Abbott is not feeling the pressure. He's won the election already. Gina needs to start swining the Big Bat.
Orale!!!
What's happening? Are we attacking? Are we not attacking. Are we talking? Are we not talking? Is Iran winning? Are we winning?
Is anybody home?
Members of Congress, now is the time to dig in and separate our forces from harm's way. For once the Iranians strike a naval ship of ours the switch is flipped and we'll be in a war that has already spun out of control with this administration, which has no clue nor appreciation of the lives of our wonderful service members.
All foghead Trump is doing is telling China and Russia how easily defeated we can be.
Using 4-million-dollar missiles to shoot down drones that cost $2k is some serious military strategy. It's like using a bazooka to kill mosquitos. We got some real Napoleon's in leadership, geniuses.
Es el problema, no pasa nada ... ni los que tienen el poder actúan. Los que tienen conocimiento en leyes, los que están en el Congreso , jueces y magistrados etc., no hacen cumplir las leyes... estamos jodidos.
False!
Trump's fingers said to look like burned sausage now. Poor bastard.
He'll likely throw some eggs on them...
IT IS NOW TIME TO BE HONEST; TRUMP IS A TRAITOR AND AN ENEMY OF DEMOCRACY.

Poor Gina is delusional
Thinks she has a chance
Lol. Good one! Come on laugh MAGA! At this rate Trump will have ended over 127 wars.
She needs to correctly label his ass as a fascist Neo-Reactionary sympathizer and enabler. AI is hallucinating on Abbott's political stance. He's a fascist NRxer.
Abbott needs data centers for his police state.
Gina la patas de gallina thinks we are a bunch of taco eaters Juan. Did you see her trying to explain how she plans to distribute the 1500 dollars to each Texan from the state reserve fund? She had tacos 🌮..y de stripes pa cabarla de chingar! I bet they were chorizo and frijoles. She dumbed it down for the audience she is trying to reach. Pinche gente tortillera. Abbott is going to roll her over with that souped up wheelchair juan. No cabe duda. Chinga tu madre Eduardo Paz Martinez….. viejillo taquero!
GINA!! LOL!!! Not a chance little girl.
Oye guey, y tu como chingados sabes k andaba comiendo tacos de Stripes, Gina? A su pinche madre, andas de chacal o k bro?
Gringos are still waiting for their tariff and DOGE check? All Trump offers is road kill and cupones de Gual-Mar. Where's the 1.75 gas? La barbacoa subió 3 dólares, culero. . .Vete a pelear aya en la guerra, puñetas! Te espera Wonder Woman!
Oye Bish gano Abdul El-Sayed! Nobody wants a candidate that supports Israel. Abbott supports a country that rapes children in time of peace and kills them in mass in time of war. No vales verga! Vete a Chingar a tu madre, guey! Have a Happy Wednesday!
Would you prefer a world war?
The U.S. economy has continued to grow steadily, with GDP expanding at about a 2% annualized rate, and inflation described as stubborn at times. In May, U.S. employers added 172,000 jobs, which was well above expectations.
It’s like feeding a tic-tac to a whale

2 opinions for Anonymous KOK:
1) Iran is a never ending distraction for the problems that are happening in the USA and Cartel Land (Mexico) and 2) I believe just let Iran and Israel nuke each other. Aren’t these the same people that want to die so they can do 40 virgins?
Ok, I am going to cheat and add another one: 3) let Ukraine and Russia nuke each other too. WTF makes it our problem??

Gina seems like Beto. I think they would be cool people to know and get ideas from, but Texas, minus Austin equals bigots and racism. When I was in high school, we were on the way to a state track meet and were denied service at a restaurant (and I am white) because “y’all ain’t from around here!” Therefore, Texas = Abbott
This is coming from me, who regrets voting for Chump 3 times, but only that it was a vote against Hillary, Joe and Kamala. The last time we had a decent choice was the Hollywood actor Ronald Reagan. 49/50 states in reelection.
Jennifer Aniston for President, goddammit!! She’s up there in age and never had a child… she could be the right actress for the figure head position.
-Chells ✌️
She does if Republicans like Abbott and Paxton sit on their asses like Red Cross workers in Haiti.
Someone else is commenting under kok. I'm not 4:53 PM.
I think of Haile Salassie's 1963 UN speech that counter's your opinionated arguments. Have a listen and think about it.
I'm poor and uneducated.
