Behind Gaza’s shattered buildings are lives that cannot be measured in tons of rubble. These were homes where families shared meals, children grew up and people made plans for a tomorrow they expected to reach.
The scale of destruction across Gaza has been documented by United Nations agencies through satellite assessments and humanitarian reporting. Homes, schools and essential services have suffered devastating damage, leaving families facing displacement, grief and the struggle to survive without reliable shelter.
But even the most detailed assessment cannot fully capture what losing a home means. It is the loss of familiar rooms, treasured belongings, neighborhood connections and the ordinary sense of safety that every family deserves.
And the Trump administration has approved a $2.8 billion sale of heavy bombs to Israel, according to a U.S. official, in what would be among the largest deliveries of U.S. munitions there even as American public support for the country and its genocide against Palestinians declines.
The proposed sale would include 40,000 one-ton bombs whose use by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon has drawn international anger because of the civilian harm caused by their wide blast radius.
Human rights groups and some foreign governments have condemned Israel for dropping the giant munitions in densely populated areas, sometimes killing dozens of civilians in strikes targeting just one individual.
The package would include 20,000 each of America’s 2,000-pound MK-84 and BLU-117 bombs. It would also provide Israel with 20,000 bunker-busting I-2000 penetrator warheads, which explode on delay after smashing through an outer surface like soil, rock or concrete.
The blast from a 2,000-pound bomb can be lethal at more than 1,000 feet and leave a crater as deep as 50 feet. Israel provoked a fierce outcry after it dropped hundreds of the heavy bombs on Gaza.
The State Department recently sent the proposed deal to two congressional committees to get informal approval, the U.S. official said.
Reconstruction must mean more than replacing concrete. It must include protecting civilians, restoring healthcare and education, supporting survivors and ensuring that Palestinians can rebuild their lives with dignity.

The world must not grow accustomed to scenes of this devastation. Palestinian lives deserve remembrance, protection and a future. Looking at the rubble should strengthen our resolve to prevent further suffering and support those still living through its consequences

During the First and Second World Wars, millions of children perished as a consequence of armed conflict. The initiation of warfare by adult leadership results in tragic loss of young lives. There exists a critical question regarding whether authoritarian regimes with nuclear capabilities would exercise restraint in protecting civilian populations, including children. The strategic calculus of national defense presents profound moral dilemmas. Adversarial forces have historically exploited civilian infrastructure, including educational and medical facilities, as tactical positions, thereby endangering vulnerable populations as documented in various historical accounts.
Gaza's devastation cannot be measured in rubble alone. Homes, schools, hospitals, communities, and futures have been destroyed. Supplying Israel with more heavy bombs amid mass civilian suffering raises grave legal and moral questions about US complicity. Military objectives never erase the duty to protect civilians or prevent disproportionate harm, especially in densely populated areas. History shows that children bear the consequences of wars waged by adults. Reconstruction must restore not only buildings, but healthcare, education, safety, dignity, and Palestinian self-determination. The world must reject indifference, demand accountability, and act to prevent further suffering.
My kid already knows this is genocide. I remind "they" that a majority of Israelis and half the population of American Jews approve this. Go look at those Getty Images, shame on y'all. Get outta my face and my feed. Christians are worse, they worship the same tribal war god. I always ask Christians how many people do y'all plan on killing because there's a pattern of religious people doing this. They act stupid and reply with the same old dumb shit. . ."Oh No, not me, Jesus doesn't want us doing that." A huh Ok.! But you're going to do it anyway, lol?
There is no hope for humanity. We have failed as a society. Let the destruction continue. But....
Yes.. its Genocide hopefully all involved will get prosecuted.. on another subject. I hope you went to the Port of Brownsville to witness Abbott and Vance. Hoping pictures were taken with Steve Guerra "El Chaquetero ". He will be a disgrace to our County.
If you're a MAGA pendejo.....do not even look my way. . .I know you. . . . . . Do not even. . .
They're also going to ask if you found Jesus or know who Jesus Cristo is?
Tell them that you were a bystander

Israel was officially founded in 1948. Palestinians were forcibly removed leaving behind their land and homes. All American administrations, GOP and Democratic, have supported Israel 100% since then. It has morphed into an
apartheid state. The major difference now is that Trump decided to attack Iran at Netanyahu's behest. Bibi and Trump have something in common. They were both going to face criminal charges. Trump bought himself time by getting elected and Bibi by the Oct. 7th attack. They are both war criminals. All the other presidents that enabled Israel to commit atrocities are guilty too.
