Fake news. That property was giving Brownsville a couple of hundred dollars a year in property tax. Space X bought 1,000 acres and kept 556 acres inside the city for Linde. Nothing was lost, if anything this secured the very taxes your fake article says we lost. get it right. If they voted no, Space X would have deannaxed with the state anyways.
What the article fails to mention is they would have gotten de-annexed by the state anyways. Cry about it all you want but it was going to be taken out of their hands regardless. At least we got something while we could.

In my opinion, Tino is looking out for himself and his political future more than the future of Brownsville. Now that he is running for reelection, it feels like we are suddenly hearing excuses and explanations designed to keep him in good favor with voters.
Leadership means standing up for Brownsville before a controversial vote, not trying to explain it away afterward when reelection is on the line. This decision could affect our city and future generations for decades, and residents deserved transparency, accountability, and a clear explanation of what Brownsville was giving up.

Any person who is a commissioner in any city in America is placed there to kiss corporate ass. They're not doing something for nothing, they'll fix a road, install a lamp light, and dig a ditch ONLY if it benefits the city to get tax money from that area.
I think future generations are going to condemn and fight against what our commission voted on. The State and Federal government should have funded our water problem, it would have cost less than 12 hours of the Iran war. Instead of building 70 THAD missiles, we could have worked on the water problem in Corpus.
