(Ed.'s Note: If you have been a longtime Brownsville resident you will instantly recognize the couple above. Ruben Garcia, the birthday boy, is a Brownsville native and a proud graduate of Brownsville High School Class of '63. He then graduated from Texas Southmost College in June, 1965, and the University of Texas in Austin in June 1968 with degree in Accounting. He worked for the City of Brownsville's Finance Dept., Brownsville Medical center, and then became an insurance agent for State Farm, a profession at which he has worked for a little over 45 years.
He started a family with his better half Inelda (Nellie) Trevino Garcia (pictured above), a professional in her own right. They had three children and have been blessed with two great grandchildren. This Sunday, Ruben was feted by his fellow Elks where he is the Lodge #2876 Treasurer and chairman of the scholarship committee. He'd love for you to call him up for a membership form to become a member of the lodge, as well. Happy Birthday, Ruben. And many more...
