"JOE ROD: THE SEQUEL" COMING TO BROWNSVILLE SOON

By Juan Montoya
Don't look now, but more great Fall reading may be on the horizon.
A few days after the majority on board of trustees of the Brownsville Independent School District chastised member Catalina Presas-Garcia for going to Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos to ask him to take action on potentially criminal conduct contained in two district reports involving A.D. Joe Rodriguez, Acción America organizer Carlos Quintanilla said the group had also obtained Part B of one of the reports detailing additional alleged wrongdoing.
"This is like Watergate," he said. "Everyone's worried about where Cata got the reports, but no one is talking about the content of the alleged abuses in the report. I don't think the people of Brownsville are going to stand for that."
In the past, Acción America said it had received copies of the two reports outlining Rodriguez's involvements in activities that involved using district resources and personnel for his personal benefit. They said the reports are already out there in the community and that they do not feel that the truth can be hidden any longer.
"Not only did board members get the reports, but so did secretaries, some parents, administrators, you name it," Quintanilla said. "The board majority should quit worrying about going after the persons who made the reports available and get around to addressing the issue at hand: What are you going to do to fix all this?"
Quintanilla said he had seen Part B of the report and that if the board continued to go after Presas-Garcia, Acción American might call a press conference this week to release the other part.
"It's like 'Revulsion', Part 2," he said.
On Jan. 27, the Brownsville Herald requested copies of two reports about Rodriguez and the BISD athletic department. One was dated Sept. 23, 2008 and was done by the BISD Human Resources Department. The second was from Dec. 2, 2008 and was done by Margie Flores, the BISD's lead internal auditor.
The district received notification on April 20 from the Attorney General's Office to provide the reports to the daily because that office had previously ruled the information public in response to a request from Paula Hoskins, a BISD employee.
In response, the BISD filed the lawsuit in Travis County, arguing, among other things, that the "information should be withheld if it contains highly embarrassing facts, the publication of which would be highly objectionable to a reasonable person, and information not of legitimate concern to the public."

Ms. kat will turn into a Lioness if you mess with her.
I know the parents are supporting the only Board member that has the fortitude to expose corruption.

Why doesn't the Lioness provide everyone the whole picture. If she is privileged to have the reports why doesn't she provide Joe's response, so we can judge for ourselves? She probably has something to hide. Is she named in his response?

If Katy wants to be transparent, why doesn't she provide Accion America Big Joe's response so we can have both side's of the story? She must have something to hide

Why doesn't the Lioness provide Coach's reply to the investigation. She is the one that preaches transparency. The Coach indicated in his letter to the editor that he responded to the allegations. As a board member Caty was provided with a copy: How come she doesn't give it to Montoya for posting. Montoya ask her to give it to you, so we can all judge, instead of just gettting one side.

Why doesn't Joe Rod post his response, can't he write or cut and paste, the Audit Reports are self explanatory and speak for themselves, Caty Presas did not write these reports, she turned them over to the DA as they should have been when there is questionable practices being outlined by Gavito in the report.

Joe Rod has now filed a Petition to Order Ms. Presa to be deposed on how the reports got into the hands of Accion America, with the same tenacity that he filed this petition, he should self release his response.

We are waiting and eager to read a blow by blow, point by point response.

Ask Otis to send a copy of it to Accion America, he probably sent the reports to them if the first place.
