Good morning (Texas Southmost College) trustees,
I wanted to give all of you the opportunity to comment on that fact that the University of Texas at Brownsville will end open admissions after the separation of the partnership is complete. As I'm sure you're well aware, that will very likely place a greater demand on TSC in its earliest phases of complete autonomy.
Do you think this will be a difficult situation to overcome or will TSC be just fine?
Some of the most important work, you may agree, is pursuing accreditation. Where do you think TSC stands on that?
Hope to hear from you today. Thanks.

Dear Jaqueline,
The majority of the board voted to have two autonomous institutions knowing that many students will come to TSC for various reasons.
Namely, tuition will be significantly lower at the junior college. Also, TSC will provide the courses and programs that many students seek and which UTB will not offer. UTB will not have open admissions.
TSC is working very hard to secure accreditation and know we will be successful in achieving this goal for our community.
We have seen the success that South Texas College has had in the upper valley, and we want to provide similar opportunities for our students.
STC has been in existence for fifteen years and currently has an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students.
Why should we not have great success when we start with a solid infrastructure and a wonderful community in the lower valley?
Will we be tested? Of course there will be challenges, but at the end of the day we will have two great institutions providing the maximum benefit to our community.
