Due to increased concern over possible torrential rains spawned by a storm forming in the Gulf of Mexico striking South Texas, the special meeting of the Brownsville Independent School District for Thursday has been cancelled.
The National Weather Service has declared that as of this morning, the storm - located 155 miles east southeast of Tampico, Mexico - had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. The storm is projected to make landfall Thursday along the coast of northeastern Mexico about 300 miles south of Brownsville, Texas, where tropical storm warnings and hurricane watches are in effect.
The primary impact from Arlene on South Texas will probably be heavy to torrential rain. In northeastern Mexico, as much as 15 inches of rain may cause flash flooding and mudslides.

There was no indication when the items on the special meeting agenda – changing the interim legal counsel and awarding the forensic audit contract – will be considered.

Oh, oh? This will now be the true test for Emergency Coordinator Humberto Barrera? Barrera for reasons "UNKNOWN" got that job via Cascos? Story is that Barrera warned Cascos that officials from Rio Hondo were going after Cascos on some county issues dealing with Rio Hondo? Pay back for being a "dedo" or "butt kisser?
I would rather deal with tropical storm Arlene than hurricane Presas

Give us a break, Presas-Garcia cancelled because her cronies were not going to the meeting. Lucky for her there was a tropical storm she could blame. Such a sorry individual. How much pain does BISD have to go through before the board memebers admit they made a historial Mistake in making Presas-Garcia President of their Board?
