Guess who was featured on the Billboard in New York's Times Square?Why, it's none other than Accion America's director Carlos Quintanilla long with Dallas Mayor Mike Rawling. Both men are promoting Healthy Eating for Hispanic Children and Breakfast in the Classroom.
Quintanilla, who first came to Brownsville at the request of the parents of Special Needs children who felt they were not getting the services they needed at the Brownsville Independent School District, was instrumental in supporting a political action committee that voted in a new slate of trustees at the BISD.
Later, he organized a massive relief effort to assist victims of killer tornadoes that devastated the southeast. Additionally, Accion America has been active in promoting candidates with pro-Hispanic views in the Dallas and Irving, Texas areas.
Now, with the national focus on Hispanic issues, Acion America is again taking the lead by promoting healthy living on the national level.
Whether you support Quintanilla and Accion America or not, there's no denying that the organization (and Carlos) have not slowed down the pace of their grassroots activities on behalf of Hispanics children here and in the Texas and national arena.

Acción America - Healthy Eating and Breakfast for Children in the Classroom. A hungry child is a hungry child. I hope that nutrition is not denied based on someone's last name or skin color.
