Well, it appears that Texas Southmost College's trustee David Oliviera has suddenly morphed into a fiscal conservative.
In an Email concerning the decision by TSC trustees to hold elections in May instead of November, Oliviera raised concerns that the college district was spending too much by holding the elections jointly with the Brownsille Navigation District.
Seems that the May elections will not be able to be handled by the Cameron County elections Office as in the past because of conflicts in time and personnel and state regulations.
Oliveira, who probably seethes at the fact that the TSC board is now meeting with new president Lily Tercero at the helm (and not his queen Juliet Garcia), railed because the board would to wait until November to hold the elections.
Of course, if his fellow trustees had opted for November – and saved a few bucks – that would have meant that his term and that of fellow Garcia adorer Robert Robles would have extended their terms by more than six months.TSC’s vice president of finance and administration Chet Lewis said $185,000 is budgeted for the upcoming election and if the college wants to buy or rent its own equipment, it might up the cost another $38,000 or more.
The Brownsville Herald reported that last year a TSC run-off — without another entity to split costs — caused the college to go $30,000 to $35,000 over budget. If TSC has a run-off without the Navigation District, the total cost could run up to $250,000, he said."I have been on the board 18 years and Roberto has been on 14 years. ... Neither of us want to see the district spend several hundred thousand just to get rid of two trustees a few months early,” a concerned Oliveira told the newspaper.
Now, these two are the same characters who had no concern that Queen Juliet was ready to spend some $640,000 of the public's money to pay for a nice mural to adorn her empire, or to giver herself a nice $36,000 raise from a raid on the UTB-TSC English Department budget to increase her salary to more than $340,000 a year.
Come to think of it, they had no qualms about leaving the TSC district taxpayers saddled with a $120 million bond debt ($68 million plus interest over the next 20 years) either. That was after the district (according to Garcia's plan) would have handed over the entire real estate and bank deposits of the college district to the UT System.
And Oliveira and Robles didn't raise any protests at the annual $50 million "transfers" from TSC to UTB as part of the extortionist "partnership" agreement.
Now he's worried about spending a few buck to have his replacement installed a few months before November? We would venture to say that whatever price it may cost us to restrict their tenure to the terms for which they ran is a cheap price to pay to get rid of these two clowns.

DITTOS!!!!!!!!! WE MUST GET RID OF THIS EXCREMENT-oliveira/robles AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A few months early my ass, David. It's kicking you out on time as the board policy states. I would happily donate $1 to help with the cost of the election if it meant seeing these two dumbasses out of elected office ON TIME.

Malicious envy is one of the most potent causes of unhappiness.
Based on all the comments I've read, there are quite a few miserable people out there.
So if they really wanted to save the college some money why do they not resign? They both are there to see what they can do to hurt TSC. Like no one figured it out that the poor students were protesting because they were asked to protest for parking.
Roberto you are a disgrace to the office you hold.
