If Cameron County Commissioner David Garza really wants to implement the county's Code of Conduct, he might just have to look down the commissioner's court over to the seat next to Judge Carlos Cascos.
There, in his full splendor, sits his colleague Ernie Hernandez who is currently under investigation by a public official that Garza wants to force to remove himself from office: DA Armando Villalobos.
Garza said he wants the county to purchase the Marchan trial transcripts so the county can sanction the judges that disgraced 404th District Judge Abel Limas named in his testimony in the just-concluded Ray Marchan racketeering and bribery trial as doing things that were "wrong," and perhaps even illegal.Limas, no paragon on virtue himself, called the kettles 138th District Judge Arturo C. Nelson, 444th District Judge David Sanchez, 357th District Judge Leonel Alejandro and 404th District Judge Elia Cornejo-Lopez black.
Never mind that Federal Judge Andrew Hanen had written letters to Chief District Judge Ricardo Hinojosa and to the State Bar of Texas on the alleged unethical behavior on the part of not only those judges, but also off some of the attorneys whose names surfaced during the testimony in the Marchan trial.
Some of that behavior included paying bribes, issuing favorable orders for attorney friends and paying courts where they practiced for ad litem appointments and other favors.
If Garza really wants to clean house he should follow the biblical advice Jesus gave to his disciples to clean out your own mess before delving into something that is really way outside your purview.
Is he really ready to throw the money changers out of the county temple?
How about starting with one who:
– helped a relative (Robert Cadriel) cheat on a civil service exam and would perform the functions of a security guard at an international crossing even though he is a convicted felon?
– used thousands of dollars of taxpayer funds to extend the caliche on Nogal Road where another Cadriel had a firing range business even though there were no houses that far back?
How about starting with one who:
– helped a relative (Robert Cadriel) cheat on a civil service exam and would perform the functions of a security guard at an international crossing even though he is a convicted felon?
– changed the ownership of his vending company from his name, to his wife's, then to Erin herself just to cover up the fact that the company in question is doing business with the county, a glaring conflict of interest.
– has consistently bent the rules in his long and glorious career as an elected official. Who can forget his having two tow truck companies in the city's rotation?
– stopped the use of the Community Center at Cameron Park by a local community group because of its "political" nature but still managed to giver his daughter's campaign a boost by collecting donations to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for colonia dwellers and hosting a gift giveaway at Christmas with Erin herself doling out the goodies?
– used harvested mail-in votes in his election to defeat Ruben Peña in his election for commissioner and then used his allies to make them disappear when the court issued subpoenas for them to appear, inlcuding Erin defending the politiqueras involved?
So what if an outgoing Villalobos in a twist of poetic justice decided to enforce David Garza's Code of Conduct on the commissioner's court for being negligent on imposing the code on one of their own member's misconduct?

Why doesn't David garza investigate the hiring of Ernie Hernandez's family members all over the county? He has them placed in numerous positions.
Let's start with asking the caliche contractor who hired him? Let's start with asking the gal who took the exam, who asked her to take it for Ernie's family member.
Let's start with asking Ernie's county paid staff members why they are working on Erin's campaign during working hours?
Let's ask why Ernie's companies are still doing business with the county under the radar?
Let's ask Ernie about him offering his vending business drivers $5 for each sign they steal and pick up from his daughter opponent Yolanda Begum.
Let's ask Ernie why Norma was paid $5,000 by the now outed Rene Oliviera with connections to county corruption?
Let's ask Ernie about the numerous travel expenses he has claimed while never actually taking the trips?
Let's ask Ernie about his shady dealings with Joey, his county paid assistant with numerous felonies under his belt.
Let's ask Ernie how many more family members he wants the county to support?
I agree that ernie is as corrupt as they come but the judge is no angel himself.
I have definitely become a follower to your blog and see that your information is honest. I also appreciate the way you bring light to the greed and sins of David Garza county commissioner who is an arrogant wanna be in my book. This man has been involved for many years of his political history to enrich himself and his extended Family of his wife the Moodys by doing exactly what he has done in the past. Case in point, his brother in law- Mark Moody borrowed over 40,000 from the city of SB and never paid a cent back to the city along with his other Moody in laws who borrowed over 250,000 dollars and didn't pay that back as well. I would like to see some research on those kick backs and see who was bribed to throw these loans under the bus. The documents do exist they are part of public record.
Mr. Garza don't spend my money on court trial documents, You can do what is best for the citizens by having your family make payment arrangements with interest to pay back what has been stolen and resigning from your position as county commissioner. I wonder why his family has escaped legal procesecution. Any common citizen would have their property and personal assists seized, I wonder who was involved? Were there any playoffs? I think we all know there was and probably still are, along with perhaps a heaping spoon of kick backs.
Montoya, I just threw my breakfast up after seeing the "Boss Pig's" picture. What a resemblence of the nose to his daughter, "Miss Piggy." Anyway, its about time that someone stepped up and took the reins in trying to enforce the code of conduct in this county? Why do you think that this Limas fiasco took place? Why do you think that others might be involved? There is so much family and close friends employed with the county not including the nepotism! With Ernie "Boss Pigg's" exposure of some of the questionable dealings or workings? Why is he still in office? Someone has got to have something on him?
