PORT LOBBYISTS WINE AT DINE AT YOUR EXPENSE

By Juan Montoya
Today at 1 p.m. you will host three well-heeled, high-priced lobbysists who say they are looking our for the interests of the Port of Brownsville, each commanding a heft salary of between $50,,000 and $100,000 a year.
What they do is not exactly clear, since about the only thing the port has gotten from Washington recently was the so-called TIGER grant. But that came about after the port's fourth attempt and millions of dollars spent to put together the proposal.
By this measure, the gentlemen who will be winded and dined at your expense at the Rancho Viejo Resort at your expense just can't seem to get it right the first, second or third time.
In fact, it is doubtful that the port got the $12 million through the fine efforts of these three wise men.
It wasn't until the fourth attempt that the Department of Transportation awarded the Port of Brownsville the grant which it will use with local monies to add a 600-foot, heavy-load capacity cargo dock on the south side of the Brownsville ship channel.
You've doubtless heard of these guys. They are Randy DeLay, Greg LeMunyon and David Randolph. They came on board the port's payroll back in the halcyon days of congressman Solomon Ortiz who counseled the port administration and trustees on the feasibility of having someone close to the Republican leadership in the George Bush presidency.
Alas, that dog is gone, but the ticks remain latched on to the carcass of what once was a free-wheeling, free-spending money-dealing machine and they show no sign of letting go.
Let's hope today's repast on fine cuts of meat and liquors satiate the thirst and hunger of the port commissioners, director Eddie Campirano and their well-heeled guests. Let's hope they have one on us.

That's cool. Isn't their little pet project expected to bring gagillions of dollars and jobs to Brownsville? What's a few thousand to kiss their ass?

It is time for the Port to end its taxation of the local citizens. Its acting like a private business...let it be private. It is shame that the port leaders have so little respect for the taxpayers. The new Pope even wanted to pay his own hotel bill this week. That has never happened with our port officials. They feel comfort on the public tit.

TELL ME AGAIN, WHY DO WE PAY TAXES TO THE PORT?

That is right, Martin, Carlos, Ralph, Joey, y Eddie Campirano.

Wined and Dinned Randy DeLay, Greg LeMunyon and David Randolph for a Third or fourth time at the Taxpayers Expense?

We still have the pictures of Rosie and Commissioner T.V. From her Apartment 141 Brandy Wine do you want all this to come out or you don't care? Like you didn't then?

Why not? They already blew over twenty million?

Why do we need to pay hired guns to do the work of our elected representatives? What is Vela's job? What are the commissioners for? Or is this just a way to funnel taxpayer money to third parties who then return it to the elected ones with gifts, meals, tickets, and other "special favors"?

this thinks. Corruption by another name, maybe, but it is still crooked.

Bydosfriasanon"Why does Cascos keep Valadez? Remember when Valadez was stealing electricity from PUB while he was on the PUB Board? Remember Chris also fixed his brothers electric meter so it did not register the correct usage? Remember when Chris's water purification company on Price Road was diverting used water into the resaca so that it did not go through the return meter of PUB in order to be charged the correct discharge fee? Remember when Chris was on PUB Board and Cascos got the lucrative Outside Auditor job for PUB?"
