If you go to the Cameron County Elections Office you will receive a list of candidates who have field an appointment of campaign treasurer announcing their intention to run.
And despite reams of cybercopy indicating a number of candidates are intending to run, so far only two have listed their treasurers.
They are Martin Arambula, currently a Brownsville Independent School District employee and Port of Brownsville commissioner and a Manuel Flores Jr., of Harlingen. Arambula filed on March 15 and Flores just yesterday, April 16. Arambula lists Eva H. Woodfin as his treasurer and Flores one Melissa Flores.
We assume Melissa Flores is the candidate's husband. Eva Arambula Woodfin, is Martin Arambula's sister, and also the manager of the Community Loan Center who was given the BISD franchise to issue so-called small-dollar loans backed by nine local banks in the Brownsville area and administered under the auspices of the Rio Grande Multibank.
Now, we are not nitpickers, but Arambula has been sending text messages from his phone to his acquaintances and would-be supporters for his bid for county judge. But on Tuesday, one of those targeted by Martin's appeal received his more than a half hour after Martin's 8 a.m. work time, that is, politicking during working hours."Hope all is going well!!I would like to personally extend a personal invitation. And even if the BISD board followed the recommendations by the BISD board that they award Martin an added $18,000 to his salary to bring it up to $92,000 – more than a high school principal – would hae have to take a leave of absence to seek public office and forgo the bonanza?
It's almost as bad as Cameron County Administrator Pete Sepulveda and his assistant David Garcia getting paid to perform duties of four county departments and the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority at once. It simply cannot be done.
Be that as it may, Arambula's invitation for his candidacy announcement in front of the county courthouse is scheduled to be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. In the email made available to El Rrun-Rrun, he included the pushcard included in this post.

JUANITO you would be amazed at the number of BISD employees from the main office who spend their time(on the clock) politicking and/or on FB.
Why are they so politically motivated but not motivated to help our children? Just flipping the finger at BISD while super is in la-la land.
If you do a records request on Marting Arambual's time card, you will find out that he hardly is never at work, when he goes to work he starts at after 9am and he leave by 2pm.
If you compare the time sheets request with the time marting travels to Netherlands, Alaska, China, at Port of Brownsville (taxpayers expense) you will find that Martin can be in two places at once: In china at your and my expense and at work(someone is falsifying the timesheets).

I really think he should take a leave of absence while he runs his campaign. Is he ready to retire from the district, or does he have another source of income? The salary of County Judge is significantly less than he's currently making, and almost half, if his pay if his raise is approved.

Under the table or just right place, right time. Ask Cascos how many additional Irrigation and water districts he picked up once he became county judge. And the PUB account his boy Friday, Chris, got for him. That is why he doesn't have time to spend on county business, he is too busy gouging all these new accounts he wrangled his way into. But don't look very closely at either Brownsville Convention and Visitors bureau or the Texas Workforce accounts that he was doing the auditing for, because their problems were not discovered till after he discontinued doing their books. It only took the new auditors one look to find all the problems he had not found in several years.
